Day 12 - 16 May 2021 - The same medalists all over again​

The second decision of this year's Pentathlon came to pass. After the City Run, Cross Country has now finished. And apparently three teams want to have all medals for themselves. But more on that later. While the final lap of the Sprint is coming closer, the teams are preparing for the decisions in the Marathon and Javelin Throw. But since all is quiet on the long track, apart from RKN (#9) overtaking ISWT (#10), I am omitting this discipline today.

Cross Country (Einstein@Home)
The medalists are the same as in the City Run. But they all hold different precious metal in their hands now. This time, P3D are victorious, quite clearly before TAAT who secured Silver with aplomb. TSBT can take home Bronze. Congratulations!

SG went on a spree on the last day and secured #4. But the deficit to the podium was too large in the end. It was a really close race between RKN (#5) and [H] (#6). The Rechenkrafters delivered a super acceleration on the final day but had to wait in trepidation for the actual outcome. But at last the performance earned them the best placement since 2019.

The last day was really hard for BOINC@AUSTRALIA. They went over the finish line only in #7 since they could not withstand the surging hordes. Only #7? This placement is in fact the best one ever achieved by the Australians on a Pentathlon; they never had a single-digit rank before. This is a cause for celebration.

CNT carved out #8, but the deficit up front was too much for more. But they could stay ahead of OCN (#9), who saw LTT running up behind in #10. As expected there were no changes up next: AF (#11), BOINC@Poland (#12), Ukraine (#13), EVGA (#14), and UBT (#15).

BOINC.Italy secured #16 ahead of LITOMYSL (#17) who displaced ISWT (#18). 2ch (#19) and Crystal Dream (#20) did not reach the Scientists in the end but could relegate Team China in #21. Chinese Dream fell victim to the final day, dropping three places down to #22. The pace of the Chinese was terrible, such that BOINCstats hoped for more, but only #23 was left for the Statisticians in the end. The AMD Users (#24) were keeping up but could not mobilize any additional powers to finally pass the Statisticians.

The Meisterkühlers were almost rolled over by Palatine barrels. In great distress they reached the finish line in #25. BOINC@Pfalz (#26) almost overpowered them, the Cool ones probably did not see this one coming. Russia finished in #27.

Sprint (NFS@Home)
P3D had the best start, sprinting towards a hefty advantage. TAAT moved onto #2 and therefore displaced TSBT in #3. The medals are prone to fall into the hands of this trio once again. And again SG linger in #4; we want to shout out to them that Iron again and again is getting boring. Maybe they'll get back on their feet yet. RKN (#5) already fell behind a little but hold their own against LTT (#6), who are having a good run now however.

CNT (#7) are staying only narrowly ahead of AF (#8) and [H] (#9). This trio will perhaps stick to themselves until the finish, because it will be difficult for Chinese Dream (#10), Australia (#11), and Meisterkühler (#12) to join in.

From twelfth place onwards, differences are generally very small. There is not a lot which separates Ukraine (#13), LITOMYSL (#14), and OCN (#15) from the Cool ones. Just as tight a contest is going on between EVGA (#16), BOINC.Italy (#17), and 2ch (#18). This trio could be turned into a quintet by AMD Users (#19) and BOINC@Poland (#20). Both are on their way at a good speed and are slowly closing the gap in front.

UBT (#21) are losing ground and is going to be challenged by BOINCstats (#22). Afterwards there is already a lot of distance. We are finding BOINC@Pfalz in #23, ahead of Team China (#24), Crystal Dream (#25), and Russia (#26). ISWT however appear to skip the Sprint entirely.

Overall Standings
Currently three teams are controlling everything in this Pentathlon: P3D (#1), TAAT (#2), and TSBT (#3). For now it looks like this trio will scoop 14 of 15 medals in the disciplines, only SG (#4) may pick something up too. It was like this only in 2011, 2012, and 2014, when only 4 teams divided the precious metal among themselves.

The overall victory can apparently not be taken away from P3D anymore, whereas TAAT have yet to fight hard to guard Silver from TSBT. While SG is safely in #4, RKN (#5) have to watch out for CNT (#6) und LTT (#7). The Javelin on the last day will decide everything here. [H] are holding on to #8 ahead of AF in #9. BOINC@AUSTRALIA have good chances for #10 and thereby their best Pentathlon result so far.

OCN (#11) are profiting from a little weakness of 2ch (#12), but this is not final yet. And behind, Ukraine (#13) took position and are working to cause much trouble for the duo yet. EVGA (#14), ISWT (#15), and BOINC.Italy (#16) are following, among which the Italians are slowly working their way towards ISWT. Chinese Dream (#17) can still not keep up with this. Placed skintight together are Meisterkühler (#18), BOINC@Poland (#19), AMD Users (#20), LITOMYSL (#21), and UBT (#22), with merely 4 points difference across these 5 teams. There are so frequent changes here that it's dizzying.

Crystal Dream remain safe in #23 and don't have to worry about Team China (#24) or BOINCstats (#25). BOINC@Pfalz remain in #26, followed by Russia (#27).

Tomorrow, the Sprint will be decided, and the day after tomorrow is when the the grand finale happens. We have still some questions:

- Can SG still steal a medal in the Sprint?
- Will RKN defend #5 in the overall standings?
- Will TAAT make it ahead of TSBT as they cross the finishing line?

You see it remains exciting at the BOINC Pentathlon.

Jour 12 - 16/05/2021 - Toujours les mêmes qui décrochent les médailles​

Le deuxième résultat de ce Pentathlon est tombé. Après la Course urbaine, c'est au Cross-country que les participants ont franchi la ligne d'arrivée. Et on dirait que trois équipes veulent avoir toutes les médailles pour elles. Nous en reparlerons. Tandis que le Sprint approche déjà de la dernière ligne droite, les équipes se préparent aux résultats du Marathon et du Javelot. Mais comme la piste longue est encore calme - à l'exception du dépassement de RKN (#9) par rapport à ISWT (#10), je vais occulter cette discipline aujourd'hui.

Cross-country (Einstein@Home)
Les vainqueurs sont les mêmes que pour la Course urbaine, mais chacun détient désormais une médaille d'une autre couleur. Cette fois, P3D gagne très nettement devant TAAT qui a efficacement défendu l'argent. Au final, TSBT a décroché la médaille de bronze. Toutes nos félicitations!

Le dernier jour, SG a encore tout donné et s'est ainsi assurée de la 4e place. Malheureusement, le retard sur le podium était trop grand. C'était vraiment serré entre RKN (#5) et [H] (#6). Les gars et les filles de Rechenkraft ont montré une superbe accélération le dernier jour, mais ils se sont quand même fait une frayeur. Au final cela a quand même suffi pour le meilleur classement depuis 2019.

Le dernier jour était vraiment dur pour BOINC@AUSTRALIA. Elle a passé la ligne d'arrivée seulement à la 7e place, parce qu'elle n'a pas réussi à résister aux hordes qui l'ont assaillie. Seulement la 7e place? Ce classement est le meilleur classement des Australiens depuis le début du Pentathlon, ils n'ont encore jamais eu de classement à un chiffre. C'est une bonne raison pour faire la fête.

CNT a décroché la 8e place, mais la distance avec les équipes devant elle était trop grande pour aller plus loin. Au moins CNT a réussi à laisser OCN (#9) derrière elle, qui a vu LTT passer la ligne d'arrivée juste derrière au rang 10. Comme prévu, pas de changement derrière: AF (#11), BOINC@Poland (#12), Ukraine (#13), EVGA (#14) et UBT (#15).

BOINC.Italy a assuré le rang 16 devant LITOMYSL (#17) qui a renvoyé ISWT au rang 18. 2ch (#19) et Crystal Dream (#20) n'ont pas réussi à s'approcher des Scientifiques, en revanche elles ont réussi à faire tomber Team China au rang 21. La victime de cette dernière journée était Chinese Dream: elle a reculé de trois places au rang 22. La vitesse des Chinois était horrible, au point que BOINCstats pensait avoir une dernière chance, mais au final les Statisticiens n'ont décroché que la 23e place. Les AMD Users (#24) n'ont pas perdu le contact, mais ils n'ont pas réussi à mobiliser de forces supplémentaires pour dépasser les Statisticiens.

Les Meisterkühler ont failli passer sous les tonneaux de Pfalz. Ils ont eu toutes les peines du monde à sauver la 25e place. Pfalz (#26) a presque réussi à frapper - les gars cool ne s'attendaient sûrement pas à ce sprint final. Russia a passé la ligne d'arrivée à la place 27.

Sprint (NFS@Home)
P3D a pris le meilleur départ et a déjà quelques longueurs d'avance. Derrière, TAAT s'est installée à la 2e place et TSBT est donc au rang 3. C'est encore ce trio qui menace de décrocher les médailles. Et une fois de plus SG reste au rang 4. Qu'on l'encourage: à la longue, le chocolat c'est ennuyeux! Peut-être qu'elle reprendra du poil de la bête. RKN (#5), pour sa part, a déjà un peu lâché prise, mais elle s'impose devant LTT (#6) qui vient de prendre de l'élan.

CNT (#7) se tient tout juste devant l'AF (#8) et [H] (#9). On dirait que ce trio restera groupé jusqu'au bout car Chinese Dream (#10), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) et les Meisterkühler (#12) auront du mal à s'en mêler.

Globalement, les écarts à partir de la 12e place sont très justes. Ainsi, l'Ukraine (#13), LITOMYSL (#14) et OCN (#15) ne sont pas très loin des gars cool. C'est tout aussi serré entre EVGA (#16), BOINC.Italy (#17) et 2ch (#18). Les AMD Users (#19) et BOINC@Poland (#20) pourraient transformer ce trio en quintette: Toutes deux avancent à bonne vitesse et commencent à réduire l'écart avec les équipes devant.

UBT (#21) perd du terrain et sera mise au défi par BOINCstats (#22). Ensuite, l'écart est vraiment important. Nous retrouvons Pfalz au rang 23, devant Team China (#24), Crystal Dream (#25) et Russia (#26). Par contre, on dirait qu'ISWT fait l'impasse sur le Sprint.

Classement général
Actuellement, on dirait que trois équipes dominent tout dans ce Pentathlon: P3D (#1), TAAT (#2) et TSBT (#3). On dirait aussi que ce trio empochera 14 des 15 médailles individuelles, seule SG (#4) peut encore leur en dérober une. Jusqu'à présent, nous n'avions ce cas qu'en 2011, 2012 et 2014 où 4 équipes se sont réparti les médailles.

Il semble qu'on ne puisse plus prendre la victoire au général à P3D. En revanche, TAAT doit encore se battre pour protéger l'argent contre TSBT. Tandis que SG est sûre de la 4e place, RKN (#5) doit encore faire très attention à CNT (#6) et LTT (#7). La décision se fera le dernier jour avec le dernier javelot. [H] se maintient au rang 8, devant l'AF au rang 9. BOINC@AUSTRALIA a de bonnes chances de décrocher la 10e place et donc son meilleur résultat au Pentathlon.

OCN (#11) profite d'une petite faiblesse de 2ch (#12), mais ce n'est pas encore un résultat préliminaire. Derrière, l'Ukraine (#13) s'est mise en position et s'évertue à bien agacer ce duo. EVGA (#14), ISWT (#15) et BOINC.Italy (#16) suivent, sachant que les Italiens s'approchent lentement d'ISWT. Chinese Dream (#17) n'arrive plus à suivre. Sur les places suivantes, les jeux se font au coude à coude. Seuls 4 points séparent les 5 équipes suivantes: Meisterkühler (#18), BOINC@Poland (#19), AMD Users (#20), LITOMYSL (#21) et UBT (#22). Les changements sont permanents, à vous faire tourner la tête.

Crystal Dream reste en toute sécurité au rang 23 et n'a pas à s'occuper de Team China (#24) ou de BOINCstats (#25). Pfalz continue à progresser au rang 26, suivie par Russia (#27).

Demain nous aurons le résultat du Sprint et après-demain c'est déjà le grand final. Mais il nous reste encore quelques questions:

- SG peut-elle encore voler une médaille au Sprint?
- RKN défendra-t-elle le rang 5 au général?
- Et TAAT arrivera-t-elle à gagner le général devant TSBT?

Tag 12 - 16.05.2021 - Immer die Gleichen mit Edelmetall​

Die zweite Entscheidung beim diesjährigen Pentathlon ist gefallen. Nach dem Stadtlauf hat es nun beim Querfeldein den Zieldurchlauf gegeben. Und scheinbar wollen drei Teams alle Medaillen für sich haben. Doch dazu später mehr. Während der Sprint schon wieder in Richtung Zielgerade steuert, bereiten sich die Teams auf die Entscheidungen beim Marathon und Speer vor. Da aber bis auf das Überholmanöver von RKN (#9) gegen ISWT (#10) noch Ruhe auf der Langstrecke ist, werde ich diese Disziplin heute auslassen.

Querfeldein (Einstein@Home)
Die Medaillengewinner sind die gleichen wie beim Stadtlauf. Allerdings darf jeder nun ein anderes Edelmetall in den Händen halten. Dieses Mal siegt P3D recht deutlich vor TAAT, die sich souverän Silber sichern. TSBT darf am Ende Bronze abholen. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!

SG ließ es am Schlusstag noch mal richtig krachen und sicherte so #4 ab. Der Rückstand aufs Podium war am Ende aber zu heftig. Richtig eng ging es zwischen RKN (#5) und [H] (#6) zu. Die Rechenkraftler legten am Schlusstag eine super Beschleunigung hin, doch am Ende mussten sie nochmal zittern. Letztlich reichte es aber für die beste Platzierung seit 2019.

Für BOINC@AUSTRALIA war der letzte Tag echt hart. Nur auf #7 gingen sie durchs Ziel, weil sie den anstürmenden Horden nicht standhalten konnten. Nur #7? Mit dieser Platzierung haben die Australier für sich die beste Platzierung beim Pentathlon ever eingefahren, noch nie waren sie einstellig. Das ist doch ein Grund zum Feiern.

CNT holte noch #8 heraus, aber der Abstand nach vorne war zu groß für mehr. Immerhin konnte man OCN (#9) hinter sich halten, die LTT hinter sich auf #10 durchs Ziel liefen sahen. Wie erwartet keine Veränderungen gab es dahinter: AF (#11), BOINC@Poland (#12), Ukraine (#13), EVGA (#14) und UBT (#15).

BOINC.Italy sicherte sich #16 vor LITOMYSL (#17), die ISWT auf #18 verwiesen. 2ch (#19) und Crystal Dream (#20) kamen nicht mehr an die Wissenschaftler ran, konnten aber Team China auf #21 verweisen. Opfer des Schlusstages war Chinese Dream, drei Plätze nach hinten auf #22. Das Tempo der Chinesen war grausig, sodass sich auch BOINCstats noch Chancen ausrechnete, doch am Ende blieb für die Statistiker #23. Die AMD Users (#24) ließen dahinter auch nicht abreißen, konnten aber am Ende keine zusätzlichen Kräfte mehr mobilisieren, um an den Statistikern vorbeizugehen.

Die Meisterkühler wären fast unter die Pfälzer Fässer geraten. Nur mit Mühe und Not retteten sie sich auf #25 ins Ziel. Die Pfalz (#26) hätte fast noch zugeschlagen, mit diesem Schlussspurt haben die Coolen wohl nicht gerechnet. Russia ging dann auf #27 durchs Ziel.

Sprint (NFS@Home)
Den besten Start hatte P3D, die sich schon einen gehörigen Vorsprung ersprintet haben. Dahinter hat TAAT sich auf #2 gesetzt und TSBT damit auf #3 verwiesen. Wieder ist es dieses Trio, das die Medaillen abzuräumen droht. Und wieder verharrt SG auf #4, man möge ihnen zurufen: Blech ist auf Dauer einfach zu langweilig! Vielleicht rappeln sie sich ja noch auf. RKN (#5) hat dagegen schon etwas abreißen lassen, behauptet sich aber vor LTT (#6), die aber gerade einen Lauf haben.

CNT (#7) hält sich nur knapp vor AF (#8) und [H] (#9). Diese Trio wird wohl bis zum Schluss aufeinanderhocken, denn Chinese Dream (#10), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) und die Meisterkühler (#12) werden da nur schwer rein stoßen können.

Generell sind die Abstände ab Platz 12 sehr knapp und so trennen die Ukraine (#13), LITOMYSL (#14) und OCN (#15) nicht viel von den Coolen. Genauso knapp geht es zwischen EVGA (#16), BOINC.Italy (#17) und 2ch (#18) zu. Aus dem Trio eine Fünfergruppe machen könnten die AMD Users (#19) und BOINC@Poland (#20). Beide haben derzeit ein gutes Tempo drauf und schließen die Lücke nach vorne langsam.

UBT (#21) verliert da an Boden und wird durch BOINCstats (#22) herausgefordert werden. Danach ist Lücke schon ziemlich groß. Auf #23 finden wir die Pfalz, vor Team China (#24), Crystal Dream (#25) und Russia (#26). ISWT dagegen scheint den Sprint komplett auszulassen.

Gesamtwertung
Aktuell sieht es so aus, dass in diesem Pentathlon drei Teams alles bestimmen: P3D (#1), TAAT (#2) und TSBT (#3). Aktuell sieht es auch danach aus, dass dieses Trio 14 der 15 Einzelmedaillen einsacken wird, nur SG (#4) kann da noch was abstauben. Dies war nur 2011, 2012 und 2014 der Fall, dass 4 Teams das Edelmetall unter sich aufteilten.

Der Gesamtsieg ist P3D wohl nicht mehr zu nehmen, dagegen muss TAAT noch hart kämpfen um Silber vor TSBT zu schützen. Während SG #4 sicher hat, muss RKN (#5) noch gehörig auf CNT (#6) und LTT (#7) achten. Hier wird der letzte Speer am letzten Tag alles entscheiden. [H] hält sich auf #8 vor AF auf #9. BOINC@AUSTRALIA dahinter hat gute Chancen, #10 und damit das beste Ergebnis beim Pentathlon einzufahren.

OCN (#11) profitiert von einer kleinen Schwäche von 2ch (#12), doch das war noch keine Vorentscheidung. Und dahinter ist auch die Ukraine (#13) noch in Stellung gegangen und arbeitet daran, dieses Duo noch gehörig zu ärgern. EVGA (#14), ISWT (#15) und BOINC.Italy (#16) folgen, wobei die Italiener sich langsam an ISWT heranarbeiten. Chinese Dream (#17) kann da weiter nicht folgen. Hauteng geht es auf den weiteren Plätzen zu, 4 Punkte trennen die 5 folgenden Teams: Meisterkühler (#18), BOINC@Poland (#19), AMD Users (#20), LITOMYSL (#21) und UBT (#22). Hier gibt es ständig Veränderungen, da wird einem ja schon schwindelig.

Crystal Dream verharrt sicher auf #23 und braucht sich weder um Team China (#24) noch um BOINCstats (#25) zu kümmern. Die Pfalz ist weiter auf #26 unterwegs, gefolgt von Russia (#27).

Morgen fällt die Entscheidung beim Sprint und übermorgen ist das große Finale dran. Noch haben wir aber ein paar Fragen:

- Kann SG beim Sprint noch eine Medaille rauben?
- Verteidigt RKN #5 in der Gesamtwertung?
- Und schafft es TAAT vor TSBT ins Gesamtziel?

Ihr seht, es bleibt spannend beim BOINC Pentathlon.
