Day 13 - 17 May 2021 - Sleepless at the Pentathlon

The final two days will decide everything. The final whistle hasn't blown yet in three disciplines. The last hours of the Sprint are on, and tomorrow Marathon and Javelin Throw will conclude. Stay tuned. The sleepless hours have begun.

Sprint (NFS@Home)
What is still possible on the short track? The distances at the top seem large, but are they insurmountable? The next hours will tell us. P3D are leading the field and might be confident of their position. TAAT (#2) however have not given up, as their current speed is showing. TSBT (#3) will have to step on it if they still want to take Silver away from TAAT in the overall standings.

SG are spurting behind them in #4 and it remains to be seen if they still can endanger TSBT with a final spurt. Behind the Germans, LTT (#5) are keeping CNT (#6) at a distance and expect their attack. RKN lost places and are now in #7. Will a counterstrike happen? Or are the Rechenkrafters trying to hold the place and keep [H] (#9) and AF (#10) behind?

Chinese Dream are securing #10 but cannot be sure of their standing. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) are on a weak streak right now but might return. And behind them, Meisterkühler (#12) shifted gears and are coming closer. Ukraine are busy to bring #13 home, and they currently succeed to keep OCN (#14) at a distance. At least OCN managed to get rid of LITOMYSL (#15), who in turn are now getting under pressure from BOINC.Italy (#16) and AMD Users (#17). These two are currently catching up rapidly.

2ch are able to secure #18. Even though the advantage over EVGA (#19) is small, EVGA appear to run at their strength limit and don't seem to have more power left. Maybe this is a chance for BOINC@Poland (#20) to gain a place. UBT and BOINCstats are sprinting for #21, with a current advantage for the Brits. A heart beat finale is in the making here - place your bets! BOINC@Pfalz are valiantly holding #23. Since Team China (#24) does not show any moves to attack, things are looking good for the Palatines. Crystal Dream (#25) and Russia (#26) are following.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
The Marathon is proceeding astonishingly calm. The teams apparently concentrate on the last metres of the Sprint and on the Javelin. But movements could still happen in the field when powers are relocated from the Sprint to the long track. Victory can certainly not be taken away from P3D anymore, and it would be devil's work if TAAT couldn't hold #2. But we must not underestimate TSBT (#3). An attack on the podium could still be mounted by SG, but since they have to give their all at the Javelin Throw tomorrow, #4 will more likely be their final position.

The Marathon won't end boringly however. There are still some fights for placements. Which are the skirmishes you should watch for especially? The fight for #6 is bringing CNT (#6), [H] (#7), and AF (#8) together. And maybe even an attack on #5 could be possible, since LTT are not unattainably afar. Further on, the distances between BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), Ukraine (#12), and 2ch (#13) are somewhat bigger, but their paces differ. It seems safe to say that this trio is pushing closer together. We'll see if overtaking maneuvers will be possible.

#16 is still a skintight affair, BOINC.Italy and AMD Users are not taking prisoners here. It's close between LITOMYSL (#22) and Chinese Dream (#23) too, and between BOINCstats (#24), Team China (#25), and BOINC@Pfalz (#26) as well.

Overall Standings
There doesn't seem to be a way how P3D could lose the overall victory now. But TAAT (#2) need to stay fully focused because TSBT (#3) will take advantage of any weakness. SG can be relaxed, nobody can take #4 from them anymore.

CNT conquered #5 because RKN (#6) lost places at the Sprint. But the distances are still small, giving LTT (#7) a chance to disrupt the duo. [H] behind are running out of options, #8 seems to be the best possible outcome. Likewise, AF (#9) and BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#10) appear safe.

OCN (#11) could gain some ground against 2ch (#12), although this is primarily due to the Japanese having lost a place at the Sprint. Ukraine (#13) remain on the lookout. #14 is a nail-biter, since EVGA (#14) lost points and come into reach of ISWT (#15) and BOINC.Italy (#16). The Italians sneaked up to ISWT and are now ready to trade places.

While Chinese Dream seem to have #17 safe, the five-cornered fight behind remains exciting. The group is stretching out further now though. The reason: AMD Users (#18) made points at the Sprint and therefore could distance themselves somewhat. But Meisterkühler (#19), BOINC@Poland (#20), UBT (#21), and LITOMYSL (#22) are still hot on their heels.

Place 13 is inhabited by Crystal Dream, followed by Team China (#24) and BOINCstats (#25). The chief statisticians still have a chance to annoy the red dragon; it may be possible to make up for the 5 points deficit. Pfalz are safe in #26 because Russia (#27) are far away.

Slowly we are coming closer to the solution of our questions:

- Are the medals at the Sprints already taken?
- Will SG get Silver at the Javelin?
- Can TAAT defend Silver at the Marathon?

You see it remains exciting at the BOINC Pentathlon.

Yours, Jeeper

Tag 13 - 17.05.2021 - Schlaflos beim Pentathlon

Auf welche Scharmützel sollten Sie also besonders achten?

Euer Jeeper
