Day 14 - 18 May 2021 - The grand finale!​

Take a moment for some rest. Take a deep breath in, and a calm breath out. Only the strong-willed among you will be able to keep this up for 5 minutes, but it is worth it. Because the pulse is at ease and the mind is clear. This won't last long after a look at the stats, but maybe it helps to avoid a racing heart at the finale.

The time has come, the last hours of the 12th BOINC Pentathlon are running. Last night, discipline number three was decided, and with a real crash of thunder. And now only two more disciplines are waiting for us.

Sprint (NFS@Home)
The sensation happened after all on the final day. The victory of the Green Planet which was believed to be safe withered away in what felt like seconds. TAAT took Gold on the short track by means of an end spurt like a rocket, and left the perplexed P3D behind with Silver. Anyhow, the Green team could make their set of medals complete. Bronze goes to TSBT. Congratulations!

Perhaps bothersome for SG, #4 is their result but it could have been more. LTT could make it to the finish in #5. CNT were not able to close the gap despite an end spurt and went over the finishing line in #6. RKN (#7), [H] (#8), and AF (#9) could finish the race in peace as expected. A peace which did not exist further behind. Meisterkühler got into #10 with a furious end spurt as their personal highlight. Chinese Dream (#11) and BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) were left out in the cold.

OCN snagged #13 from Ukraine (#14), and AMD Users didn't hold back on the last day either. They took place 15 home in the end, leaving BOINC.Italy (#16), LITOMYSL (#17), and 2ch (#18) behind. EVGA (#19) could not intervene anymore, neither could BOINC@Poland (#20). BOINCstats battled with UBT (#22) on the last day and were rewarded with #21. Perhaps the most power was saved for the end spurt by Crystal Dream. This way the Dreamers managed to push forward to #23, and took BOINC@Pfalz (#24) and Team China (#25) by an ice cold surprise. Russia coasted down in #26, whereas ISWT didn't even enter the race in the first place.

Javelin Throw (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
The last hours of the Javelin are on, and with them the chance for some teams to accomplish something yet. P3D's victory is already definite, but it looks like TSBT (#3) shall still trade places with SG (#2). Both cover all the bases at the final throw.

Place 4 of TAAT is already a given, but if [H] finishes in #5 remains open. At least they have done their part. They are left to wait and see if LTT (#8) still one-ups them, which is not a done deal yet. RKN (#6) would drop to #7 then. CNT (#7) appears to skip the last throw, maybe it did no longer make sense for them to invest power here. Afterwards it becomes tricky. 2ch (#9) and AF (#10) are throwing today and decide who is winning this duel. To their advantage, the Japanese have matters in their own hands here.

Chinese Dream are standing in #11 and apparently aren't doing anything anymore today. In contrast, LITOMYSL (#12) already delivered and are no longer vulnerable. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#13) can't do anything about it anymore. Ukraine follows in #14. In behind, ISWT are a mystery. A good throw today could improve their standing, but so far there is no hint on a serious attempt. Given their standstill at the Marathon, the question is what is happening here. Strike, or bluff?

Meisterkühler (#16) and EVGA (#17) would have the chance to improve today, but right now it looks as if they let this chance pass unused. Of course there are still several hours time. Which especially EVGA should use, because OCN (#18) are about to place a decent throw, and overtake. Team China follows in #19, followed by AMD Users (#20). BOINC.Italy may skip today because #21 is safe. BOINCstats needed to have another go today in order to irrevocably take #22, at which they succeeded. It's a calm day today for BOINC@Poland (#23) because there is nothing to gain here anymore. UBT (#24) are operating recklessly. There is no indication that the Brits make one more effort today. The consequence may be that Crystal Dream (#25) catch up with them. There is nothing to gain for Russia (#26) and BOINC@Pfalz (#27) today.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
P3D - TAAT - TSBT - SG, this is the current order of the quartet at the top. At this time it doesn't look like it would change at all anymore. But this is what many thought at the Sprint too.

LTT need to take care not to lose #5 to CNT (#6) yet. [H] (#7) and AF (#8) are moving faster too. The fight for #11 between BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), 2ch (#12), and Crystal Dream (#13) remains close and exciting as well. Meanwhile, BOINC.Italy keep holding on #16 securely, since AMD Users (#17) are slowly losing ground. But Chinese Dream did it and took over #22 from LITOMYSL (#23). Behind them, BOINCstats (#24) try to shake off Team China (#25). And perhaps BOINC@Pfalz (#26) will still butt in.

Overall Standings
Overall victory -almost- cannot be taken away from P3D anymore, and the victory at the Sprint ensured Silver for TAAT. Bronze will go to TSBT this year, who could keep SG at bay. How the 5th to 8th places will look like remains still open. The music is still playing at Javelin and Marathon, to shuffle the seats.

Right now CNT (#5) is ahead, but only by a hair. RKN (#6) and [H] (#7) are level at points, with LTT (#8) in tow. LTT need to give everything at the Javelin in order to make up for their deficit or, actually, to overtake. The top ten are complete with AF (#9) and BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#10). OCN continue to hold #11, ahead of 2ch (#12). Both of them should be reasonably safe, as should be Ukraine in #13. EVGA narrowly hold #14 ahead of ISWT (#15) and BOINC.Italy (#16). Unfortunately for the Italians, they cannot attack anymore and therefore this order shouldn't change anymore.

LITOMYSL reached really far at the Javelin, and this brings them into #17 in the overall ranking and leaves Chinese Dream (#18), AMD Users (#19), Meisterkühler (#20), BOINC@Poland (#21), and UBT (#22) defeated. It looks like #23 for Crystal Dream, whereas BOINCstats desperately need to stay ahead of Team China (#25) in the Marathon in order to defend #24. Pfalz remain in #26 ahead of Russia in #27.

The time of answers is near!

Jour 14 - 18/05/2021 - La grande finale!​

Prenez un moment pour vous poser. Inspirez profondément et expirez calmement. Seuls les plus volontaires d'entre vous tiendront 5 minutes, mais ça vaut le coup. Car d'un seul coup le pouls est calme et l'esprit lucide. En regardant les stats, ça ne dure pas longtemps, mais peut-être que ça peut permettre d'éviter une tachycardie pour la finale.

Ça y est, les dernières heures du 12e BOINC Pentathlon sont arrivées. Cette nuit, la discipline numéro 3 s'est terminée dans un vrai roulement de tonnerre. Deux autres disciplines nous attendent encore.

Sprint (NFS@Home)
Le dernier jour une bombe a éclaté. La victoire que la Planète Verte croyait déjà sûre a fondu en l'espace de quelques secondes. TAAT a décroché l'or sur la piste courte grâce à un sprint final de fusée et laisse P3D ébahie avec la médaille d'argent. Au moins, les Verts arrivent à compléter leur jeu de médailles ainsi. Le bronze va à TSBT. Toutes nos félicitations!

SG est probablement un peu fâchée: rang 4 au final et elle aurait pu faire mieux. LTT a réussi à sauver la 5e place. Malgré son sprint final, CNT n'a pas réussi à combler le fossé et passe donc la ligne d'arrivée à la 6e place. Comme on s'y attendait, RKN (#7), [H] (#8) et l'AF (#9) ont pu terminer la course tranquillement. Ce calme était inexistant derrière. Dans un furieux sprint final les Meisterkühler ont décroché la 10e place et donc leur propre moment fort. Chinese Dream (#11) et BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) étant les dindons de la farce.

OCN a piqué la 13e place à l'Ukraine (#14) et les AMD Users étaient aussi des gais lurons le dernier jour: ils ont réussi à engranger la 15e place et laisser BOINC.Italy (#16), LITOMYSL (#17) et 2ch (#18) derrière eux. EVGA (#19) n'a pas réussi à intervenir, pas plus que BOINC@Poland au rang 20. En ce dernier jour, BOINCstats a bouffé UBT (#22) et se trouve récompensée par la 21e place. On aurait dit que Crystal Dream a gardé le plus gros de ses forces pour le sprint final, ce qui a permis aux Rêveurs de progresser à la 23e place et de prendre BOINC@Pfalz (#24) et Team China (#25) de court. Russia a fini la course en roue libre à la 26e place, tandis qu'ISWT n'avait même pas démarré.

Lancer de javelot (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Les dernières heures du Lancer de javelot sont en cours et c'est donc la dernière opportunité pour les équipes d'atteindre encore des objectifs. P3D peut déjà être déclarée vainqueur et il semblerait que TSBT (#3) changera encore de place: elle passerait donc à la 2e place et renverrait SG (#2) au rang 3. Les deux ne se lâchent pas lors du dernier lancer.

La 4e place de TAAT est acquise, en revanche on ne sait pas encore si [H] passera la ligne d'arrivée en 5e. Quoi qu'il en soit, elle a fait sa part, maintenant elle doit attendre de voir si LTT (#8) la doublera. Pour l'heure les paris sont ouverts. Dans ce cas de figure, RKN (#6) retomberait à la 7e place. CNT (#7) semble faire l'impasse sur le dernier lancer, elle ne devait plus voir d'intérêt à investir des forces ici. Derrière, les choses deviennent épineuses. 2ch (#9) et l'AF (#10) lancent aujourd'hui et décident donc laquelle des deux gagnera ce duel. Les Japonais ont l'avantage d'avoir leur destin en main.

Chinese Dream est au rang 11 et semble ne plus rien faire aujourd'hui. LITOMYSL (#12), en revanche, a déjà livré et n'est donc plus attaquable. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#13) ne peut plus rien faire. Ukraine suit au rang 14. ISWT nous pose une colle. Avec un bon lancer aujourd'hui elle pourrait encore grandement améliorer son classement, mais jusqu'à présent rien ne laisse présager d'une tentative sérieuse. Comme elle est aussi à l'arrêt au Marathon, on peut se demander ce qui se passe: grève ou bluff?

Les Meisterkühler (#16) et EVGA (#17) auraient encore une opportunité pour s'améliorer aujourd'hui, mais pour l'instant on dirait qu'elles laissent toutes deux passer cette opportunité. Il reste encore quelques heures... C'est surtout EVGA qui devrait en profiter car OCN (#18) est en train de placer un sacré lancer et peut donc encore la doubler. Au rang 19 on trouve Team China, suivie par AMD Users (#20). BOINC.Italy peut se reposer aujourd'hui car la 21e place est sûre. BOINCstats a dû s'y remettre aujourd'hui pour assurer la 22e place, ce qu'elle a réussi à faire. Pour BOINC@Poland (#23) la journée est calme, car elle n'a plus rien à gagner. UBT (#24) est insouciante. Jusqu'à présent, on ne voit pas les Britanniques refaire le forcing aujourd'hui. La conséquence en sera probablement que Crystal Dream (#25) les rattrapera. Il n'y a plus rien en jeu aujourd'hui pour Russia (#26) et BOINC@Pfalz (#27).

Marathon
P3D devant TAAT devant TSBT devant SG - voilà l'ordre actuel du quatuor de tête. À l'heure actuelle, rien ne semble devoir changer à cet égard, mais c'est que ce beaucoup d'entre nous pensaient aussi au Sprint.

LTT doit veiller à ne pas perdre sa 5e place à CNT (#6). Même [H] (#7) et l'AF (#8) sont plus rapides. La bataille pour la 11e place entre BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), 2ch (#12) et Crystal Dream (#13) reste également serrée et passionnante. Entre temps, BOINC.Italy réussit à sécuriser davantage la 16e place car les AMD Users (#17) commencent lentement à perdre du terrain. En revanche, Chinese Dream a réussi à piquer la 22e place à LITOMYSL (#23). Derrière, BOINCstats (#24) tente de gagner du terrain et de se détacher de Team China (#25). Peut-être même que BOINC@Pfalz (#26) pourra encore s'en mêler.

Classement général
La victoire au général ne semble plus pouvoir être prise à P3D et avec sa victoire au Sprint l'argent est aussi assuré à TAAT. Cette année, la médaille de bronze ira à TSBT qui a réussi à tenir SG à l'écart. Pour les places 5-8 les paris sont toujours ouverts. Il y a encore beaucoup d'incertitudes au Javelot et au Marathon pour changer cet ordre.

Actuellement, CNT (#5) a le nez devant, mais seulement le bout du nez. Derrière, ex æquo, nous avons RKN (#6) et [H] (#7), qui remorquent LTT (#8). Mais LTT doit compter sur des dérapages de ses concurrents, elle n'arrivera plus à progresser par ses propres moyens. AF (#9) et BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#10) complètent le Top10. OCN se maintient toujours au rang 11, devant 2ch (12). Toutes deux devraient être en sécurité, tout comme l'Ukraine au rang 13. EVGA détient le rang 14, juste devant ISWT (#15) et BOINC.Italy (#16). Malheureusement, les Italiens ne peuvent plus attaquer et il ne devrait donc plus y avoir de changement ici.

LITOMYSL a lancé drôlement loin au Javelot et ça la conduit au rang 17 du classement général. Les dindons de la farce sont clairement Chinese Dream (#18), AMD Users (#19), Meisterkühler (#20), BOINC@Poland (#21) et UBT (#22). On dirait que ce sera le rang 23 pour Crystal Dream, alors que BOINCstats doit impérativement rester devant Team China (#25) au Marathon pour défendre sa 24e place. BOINC@Pfalz reste au rang 26 devant Russia au rang 27.

Tag 14 - 18.05.2021 - Das große Finale!​

Nehmen Sie sich kurz Zeit für etwas Ruhe. Tief einatmen und in Ruhe ausatmen. Nur die ganz willensstarken unter Ihnen werden das 5 Minuten durchhalten, aber es lohnt sich. Denn plötzlich ist der Puls ruhig und der Geist klar. Mit Blick auf die Stats hält das nicht lange an, doch vielleicht hilft es ja, einen zu schnellen Herzschlag zum Finale zu verhindern.

Es ist soweit, die letzten Stunden des 12. BOINC Pentathlon laufen. Diese Nacht entschied sich Disziplin Nummer 3 und das mit einem richtigen Donnerschlag. Und nun warten noch zwei weitere Disziplinen auf uns.

Sprint (NFS@Home)
Am Schlusstag kam es nun doch zur Sensation. Der schon sicher geglaubte Sieg des Grünen Planeten verdorrte in gefühlten wenigen Sekunden. TAAT holt sich Gold auf der Kurzstrecke durch einen Raketenendspurt und lässt P3D verdutzt auf Silber zurück. Immerhin können damit die Grünen ihren Medaillensatz komplett machen. Bronze geht an TSBT. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!

Bei SG wird man sich etwas ärgern, #4 steht am Ende und es hätte durchaus mehr sein können. LTT konnte dahinter #5 ins Ziel retten. CNT gelang es trotz Endspurtes nicht, die Lücke zu schließen und geht so auf #6 über die Linie. RKN (#7), [H] (#8) und AF (#9) konnten wie erwartet das Rennen in Ruhe beenden. Eine Ruhe, die es dahinter nicht gab. Mit einem furiosen Endspurt holten die Meisterkühler #10 und setzten so ihr eigenes kleines Highlight. Damit hatten Chinese Dream (#11) und BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) das Nachsehen.

OCN schnappt der Ukraine (#14) noch #13 weg und die AMD Users waren am Schlusstag auch kein Kind von Traurigkeit. Platz 15 konnten sie am Ende einfahren und so BOINC.Italy (#16), LITOMYSL (#17) und 2ch (#18) hinter sich lassen. EVGA (#19) konnte dahinter nicht mehr ins Geschehen eingreifen, wie auch BOINC@Poland auf #20. BOINCstats schnappte sich am letzten Tag noch UBT (#22) und wird mit #21 belohnt. Die meiste Kraft hat wohl Crystal Dream für den Schlussspurt aufgehoben. Denn damit gelang es den Träumern auf #23 vorzustoßen und damit die Pfalz (#24) und Team China (#25) eiskalt zu überraschen. Russia ließ das Rennen auf #26 austrudeln, während ISWT nicht losgelaufen war.

Speerwerfen (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Die letzten Stunden beim Speer laufen und damit noch die Chance für einige Teams etwas zu erreichen. P3D steht als Sieger bereits fest und es sieht danach aus, als würde TSBT (#3) doch noch die Plätze tauschen und damit #2 erringen und SG (#2) auf #3 verweisen. Beide geben sich beim letzten Wurf keine Blöße mehr.

Platz 4 von TAAT steht ja bereits fest, ob allerdings [H] auf #5 durchs Ziel geht bleibt offen. Zumindest haben sie ihren Teil getan. Jetzt müssen sie abwarten, ob LTT (#8) sie noch übertrumpft. Noch ist das offen. RKN (#6) würde damit noch auf #7 fallen. CNT (#7) scheint den letzten Wurf auszulassen und sah wohl keinen Sinn mehr, hier Kraft zu investieren. Dahinter wird es noch knifflig. 2ch (#9) und AF (#10) werfen heute und entscheiden damit wer dieses Duell gewinnt. Die Japaner haben dabei den Vorteil, es selber in der Hand zu haben.

Chinese Dream steht auf #11 und macht heute wohl nix mehr. Dagegen hat LTOMYSL (#12) bereits abgeliefert und ist damit nicht mehr angreifbar. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#13) kann da nichts mehr machen. Die Ukraine folgt auf #14. Rätsel gibt dahinter ISWT auf. Mit einem guten Wurf heute wäre noch eine deutliche Platzverbesserung drin, doch bisher gibt es keine Hinweise auf einen ernsthaften Versuch. Da auch beim Marathon Stillstand herrscht, ist die Frage was hier läuft. Streik oder Bluff?

Die Meisterkühler (#16) und EVGA (#17) hätten heute noch die Chance sich zu verbessern, aber derzeit sieht es so aus, als würden beide diese Chance verstreichen lassen. Doch noch sind ja ein paar Stunden Zeit. Die vor allem EVGA nutzen sollte, denn OCN (#18) ist dabei, einen ordentlichen Wurf zu platzieren und damit noch vorbeizugehen. Auf #19 folgt Team China, gefolgt von AMD Users (#20). BOINC.Italy kann heute auslassen, denn #21 ist sicher. BOINCstats musste heute nochmal ran, um #22 endgültig einzufahren, was auch gelungen ist. Für BOINC@Poland (#23) ist heute ein ruhiger Tag, denn zu gewinnen gibt es nichts mehr. Leichtsinnig ist UBT (#24) unterwegs. Bisher ist nicht zu erkennen, dass die Briten sich heute nochmal ins Zeug legen. Die Konsequenz ist wohl, dass Crystal Dream (#25) die Briten noch einholen wird. Für Russia (#26) und BOINC@Pfalz (#27) geht es heute um nichts mehr.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
P3D vor TAAT vor TSBT vor SG, so die aktuelle Reihenfolge des Quartetts an der Spitze. Derzeit sieht es nicht so aus, dass sich daran noch etwas ändern würde. Doch das haben viele beim Sprint auch gedacht.

LTT muss aufpassen, #5 nicht noch an CNT (#6) zu verlieren. Auch [H] (#7) und AF (#8) sind schneller unterwegs. Auch der Kampf um #11 zwischen BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), 2ch (#12) und Crystal Dream (#13) bleibt eng und spannend. Derweil schafft es BOINC.Italy, weiter #16 abzusichern, da die AMD Users (#17) langsam an Boden verlieren. Dagegen hat es Chinese Dream geschafft und #22 von LITOMYSL (#23) übernommen. Dahinter versucht BOINCstats (#24) weiter Land zu gewinnen und sich von Team China (#25) zu lösen. Und vielleicht mischt da ja noch die Pfalz (#26) mit.

Gesamtwertung
P3D ist wohl der Gesamtsieg nicht mehr zu nehmen und mit dem Sprintsieg hat auch TAAT Silber sicher. Bronze wird in diesem Jahr an TSBT gehen, die sich SG vom Hals halten konnten. Wie die Plätze 5-8 aussehen werden, bleibt weiter offen. Beim Speer und Marathon ist noch viel Musik drin, um diese Reihenfolge umzugestalten.

Derzeit hat CNT (#5) die Nase vorn, aber nur die Nasenspitze. Dahinter folgen Punktgleich RKN (#6) und [H] (#7), die wiederum LTT (#8) im Schlepptau haben. Allerding muss LTT beim Speer alles geben, um den Rückstand aufzuholen bzw. um vorbeizugehen. AF (#9) und BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#10) machen die Top 10 komplett. OCN hält weiter #11, vor 2ch (12). Beide sollten recht sicher sein, wie auch die Ukraine auf #13. EVGA hält knapp #14, vor ISWT (#15) und BOINC.Italy (#16). Leider können die Italiener nicht mehr angreifen und so wird sich an dieser Reihenfolge wohl nichts mehr ändern.

LITOMYSL hat beim Speer ordentlich Weite gemacht und das führt in der Gesamtwertung auf #17. Da haben Chinese Dream (#18), AMD Users (#19), Meisterkühler (#20), BOINC@Poland (#21) und UBT (#22) das klare Nachsehen. Für Crystal Dream sieht es nach #23 aus, wogegen BOINCstats beim Marathon unbedingt vor Team China (#25) bleiben muss, um #24 zu verteidigen. Die Pfalz bleibt auf #26 vor Russia auf #27.
