Day 6 - 10 May 2021 - All good things come in threes?​

Slowly but steadily we are approaching the hot phase of this year's Pentathlon. The teams are regrouping for starting positions of the Cross Country and the grand finale. There is still a long way ahead and the teams have to cover it step by step.

City Run (PrimeGrid)
TAAT keep up the pace and maintain #1. Neither TSBT (#2) nor P3D (#3) are able to or want to follow. The fight for Silver is not decided yet and may become important for the overall standings. SG appear to secure #4 behind them. It will be interesting to watch tomorrow how the Cross Country will start off. Both courses require similar equipment to succeed. In the end, TAAT might win the City Run but sacrifice points in Cross Country. To allocate one's strengths appropriately is the order of the next days.

[H] are meanwhile securing #5 and would do well to increase the advantage over CNT (#6). The Czechs are known for massive end spurts. Bummer that we don't know if and when it will happen. ISWT on the other hand felt the urge to advance and arrived at #7 now. It doesn't seem like more is in the cards though. But at least they overpowered AF (#8) and RKN (#9). The Rechenkrafters were run over by both, and now LTT (#10) get pushy too.

2ch ran their way to #11 and continue to show a very good pace. If they can maintain it, they might advance yet. OCN (#12), EVGA (#13), UBT (#14), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#15), and BOINC.Italy (#16) will try to keep up. The distances are narrow here, nobody can afford a moment of weakness. Further back, folks take it easy. The AMD Users are doing anything just now to pass #17 on to LITOMYSL (#18), but are favored by the fortune of the bold, since the other pursuers are quite a bit further away by now.

Ukraine (#19) displaced Pfalz to #20 after an acceleration and are now trying to cover ground. BOINCstats (#21) can keep up but can't do better. The chief statisticians just can't get any closer. BOINC@Poland (#22) stay in front of Meisterkühler (#23). Afterwards, Team China (#24) and Crystal Dream (#25) are stoking the engines, which could cause the four to crowd together. Chinese Dream (#29) and Russia (#27) cannot follow along.

Javelin Throw (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
The third throw is proceeding. Even though it won't affect the stats much, the teams have to show today what they are capable of. And that's what they do. Although TAAT are still leading the field, SG (#2) make evident that they want to get past. TAAT currently appear to be able to confirm their performances of the first two throws. SG however are stepping it up today. 2ch are suddenly appearing in #3, which is just a temporary phenomenon though.

P3D (#5) are asserting who ought to take Gold in the end. They established a record already by now and thus are just another throw away from Gold. [H] (#6) are showing more today again, and the same is true for AF (#7). ISWT are holding #8 now, followed by BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#9) and RKN (#10). I will cover Javelin Throw more extensively tomorrow, which is why I am taking only a quick look at some of the other teams now. TSBT (#12) are puzzling us still. Today's throw is not as good so far but does not look like a day off either. Which is apparently taken by CNT, which is why they can be found in merely #16 now.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
It seems the teams are concentrating on the other disciplines for the time being, such that any competing for ranks has practically come to a halt. But don't let this fool you!

P3D are probably out of anybody's reach by now and are able to control their lead. Next are TAAT who are systematically safeguarding #2 and increasing the lead on TSBT (#3). SG (#4) certainly have not given up the fight for precious metal yet, they are hanging in near the Scots and wait for the best opportunity to strike back. LTT (#5), ISWT (#6), and AF (#7) are currently not troubling each other. But there is a duo behind which set out to disturb the trinity. CNT (#8) and [H] (#9) are swiftly underway and are gaining ground. RKN on the other hand are securing #10 and don't want to be involved in the skirmish.

#11 is still hotly contested by BOINC@AUSTRALIA and Ukraine (#12). A pair found together here apparently. OCN (#13) can only look on but should not let them distract themselves too much. Crystal Dream (#14) and 2ch (#15) are sneaking up slowly but steadily. It is hard to discern who is currently occupying #16. Right now it seems to be BOINC.Italy, but the AMD Users are next by a hair. Behind them, BOINC@Poland (#18) just took care of Meisterkühler (#19), and EVGA (#20) want to follow suit. The cool ones need to watch out, but will probably not go further down. Because UBT (#21), Chinese Dream (#22), and LITOMYSL (#23) are coasting along just too leisurely. And since neither BOINCstats (#24), Team China (#25), Russia (#26), nor Pfalz (#27) are putting on any pressure, it will probably stay that way.

Overall Standings
The overall standings are still a fine mess. It's massively going backwards for the Czechs today, which will but correct itself later. The Javelin has been bringing about a lot of changes in previous years already, but this year is topping it.

TAAT can keep on dreaming of overall victory, which P3D (#2) certainly do too. The chances of SG (#3) will be decided upon in the Cross Country probably, because they foremost need to get further away from TSBT (#4).

LTT (#5), [H] (#6), ISWT (#7), AF (#8), 2ch (#9) RKN (#10), and CNT (#11) are close together. The next attempts at Javelin will hit hard here. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) is not going to be able to play along and need to mind their pursuers. OCN (#13) and EVGA (#14) are not far away, and BOINC.Italy (#15), AMD Users (#16), and Ukraine (#17) are threatening too because there is still potential in Javelin.

Whether it will be up or down for UBT (#18) shall be seen. BOINC@Poland (#19) and BOINCstats (#20) are dangerously close, and we shouldn't write off Team China (#21) either. Crystal Dream (#22) are tied on points with the red dragon but should be eyeing LITOMYSL (#23), Meisterkühler (#24), Chinese Dream (#25), Pfalz (#26), and Russia (#27).

Tomorrow, Cross Country starts and we don't know yet when the 4th attempt at Javelin will happen. And we are still missing discipline number 5. Hence there is still a lot to do. And there has probably never been a Pentathlon which raised so many question marks.

- When will we see more clearly in the overall standings?

Tag 6 - 10.05.2021 - Aller guten Dinge sind 3?​

Langsam aber sicher nähern wir uns der heißen Phase des diesjährigen Pentathlons. Mit dem Start des Querfeldeins bringen sich die Teams in die Ausgangsposition für das große Finale. Noch ist es ein weiter Weg und diesen müssen unsere Teams Schritt für Schritt gehen.

Stadtlauf (PrimeGrid)
TAAT hält weiter das Tempo hoch und damit #1. Weder TSBT (#2) noch P3D (#3) können oder wollen folgen. Der Kampf um Silber ist noch lange nicht entschieden und könnte für die Gesamtwertung wichtig werden. SG scheint dahinter #4 abzusichern. Es wird interessant zu sehen sein, wie morgen das Querfeldein ablaufen wird. Beide Strecken brauchen ähnliche Ausrüstung, um erfolgreich zu sein. Am Ende könnte TAAT zwar den Stadtlauf gewinnen, aber beim Querfeldein Punkte liegen lassen. Sich die Kräfte richtig einzuteilen ist das Gebot der nächsten Tage.

[H] sichert derweil #5 ab und tut gut daran den Vorsprung auf CNT (#6) zu vergrößern. Die Tschechen sind am Ende für massive Spurts bekannt. Blöd nur, dass wir nicht wissen ob und wann dieser kommt. Dagegen hat ISWT den Drang nach vorne und findet sich jetzt auf #7 wieder. Mehr scheint derzeit aber nicht drin. Aber immerhin hat man damit AF (#8) und RKN (#9) überrumpelt. Die Rechenkraftler wurden durch die beiden heftig überrollt und nun drängt auch noch LTT (#10) nach.

2ch hat sich nun auf #11 gerannt und legt weiter ein sehr gutes Tempo an den Tag. Wenn sie dieses halten, könnte es weiter nach vorne gehen. OCN (#12), EVGA (#13), UBT (#14), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#15) und BOINC.Italy (#16) werden versuchen, noch dranzubleiben. Die Abstände hier sind eng, eine Schwächephase kann sich da keiner leisten. Dahinter lässt man es gemächlicher angehen. Die AMD Users tun gerade alles, um #17 an LITOMYSL (#18) abzugeben, haben aber das Glück des Tüchtigen, dass die weiteren Verfolger schon etwas weiter weg sind.

Die Ukraine (#19) hat durch eine Beschleunigung die Pfalz auf #20 verdrängt und versucht nun Land zu gewinnen. BOINCstats (#21) dahinter kann das Tempo halten, aber mehr auch nicht. Näher kommen die Chefstatistiker nicht. BOINC@Poland (#22) bleiben vor den Meisterkühlern (#23). Dahinter machen Team China (#24) und Crystal Dream (#25) jetzt etwas mehr Dampf, was zur Folge haben kann, dass die vier etwas näher zusammenrücken könnten. Chinese Dream (#26) und Russia (#27) können da nicht mithalten.

Speerwerfen (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Der dritte Wurf steht an. Auch wenn das wenig Auswirkungen auf die Stats hat, heute müssen die Teams zeigen, was sie können. Und das tun sie auch. TAAT führt zwar weiter das Feld an, doch dahinter macht schon SG (#2) klar, dass sie vorbei wollen. Aktuell scheint TAAT seine Leistungen aus den ersten beiden Würfen bestätigen zu können. SG legt dagegen heute noch zu. Auf #3 taucht plötzlich 2ch auf, was aber nur eine Momentaufnahme ist.

P3D (#5) macht klar, wer am Ende Gold holen soll. Sie haben jetzt schon eine neue Bestmarke aufgestellt und so sind sie nur einen Wurf von Gold entfernt. [H] (#6) zeigt heute auch wieder mehr, was auch auf AF (#7) zutrifft. ISWT hält derzeit #8, gefolgt von BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#9) und RKN (#10). Ich werde mich morgen genauer mit dem Speerwerfen beschäftigen, deshalb jetzt nur noch ein kurzer Blick auf ein paar Teams. Noch Rätsel wirft TSBT (#12) auf. Der heutige Wurf ist bisher nicht so gut, sieht aber auch nicht nach Ruhetag aus. Den nimmt sich heute wohl CNT, weshalb sie nun erst auf #16 zu finden sind.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
Scheinbar konzentrieren sich die Teams derzeit auf die anderen Disziplinen, sodass auf der Langstrecke praktisch die Positionskämpfe zum Erliegen gekommen sind. Lassen Sie sich davon aber nicht täuschen!

P3D ist wohl kaum noch einzuholen und kann den Vorsprung kontrollieren. Dahinter sichert TAAT #2 systematisch ab und vergrößert den Abstand auf TSBT (#3). SG (#4) hat den Kampf um Edelmetall sicher auch noch nicht aufgegeben, sie bleiben an den Schotten dran und warten auf die beste Gelegenheit zurückzuschlagen. LTT (#5), ISWT (#6) und AF (#7) tun sich derzeit nichts. Doch dahinter haben sich zwei auf den Weg gemacht und wollten die Dreisamkeit stören. CNT (#8) und [H] (#9) sind flott unterwegs und machen Boden gut. RKN sichert dagegen #10 ab und will mit diesem Gerangel nichts zu tun haben.

Um #11 geht es weiter heiß her zwischen BOINC@AUSTRALIA und Ukraine (#12). Hier haben sich wohl zwei gefunden. OCN (#13) kann da nur zuschauen, sollte sich aber nicht zu stark ablenken lassen. Crystal Dream (#14) und 2ch (#15) pirschen sich langsam aber stetig heran. Wer gerade #16 innehat, ist kaum festzustellen. Derzeit ist es wohl BOINC.Italy, doch die AMD Users sind nur eine Nasenspitze dahinter. Dahinter hat sich BOINC@Poland (#18) gerade die Meisterkühler (#19) gekrallt und auch EVGA (#20) will es den Polen gleich tun. Die Coolen müssen aufpassen, allerdings dürfte es dann nicht weiter nach unten gehen. Denn UBT (#21), Chinese Dream (#22) und LITOMYSL (#23) sind einfach zu gemächlich unterwegs. Und da weder von BOINCstats (#24) noch von Team China (#25), Russia (#26) und Pfalz (#27) Druck gemacht wird, bleibt es dabei wohl auch.

Gesamtwertung
Weiterhin ist die Gesamtwertung ein einziges Durcheinander. So geht es für die Tschechen heute massiv nach hinten, was sich aber wohl am Ende korrigieren wird. Der Speer war auch schon in den letzten Jahren mit viel Abwechslung gesegnet, doch dieses Jahr wird dem wohl die Krone aufgesetzt.

TAAT darf weiter vom Gesamtsieg träumen, was P3D (#2) mit Sicherheit auch tun wird. Über die Chancen von SG (#3) wird wohl das Querfeldein entscheiden, denn TSBT (#4) gilt es als erstes weiter hinter sich zu lassen.

LTT (#5), [H] (#6), ISWT (#7), AF (#8), 2ch (#9), RKN (#10) und CNT (#11) sind eng beieinander. Hier werden die nächsten Versuche beim Speer noch kräftig reinhauen. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) wird da nicht mitmachen können und muss sicher eher um die Verfolger kümmern. OCN (#13) und EVGA (#14) sind nicht weit weg und auch BOINC.Italy (#15), AMD Users (#16) und die Ukraine (#17) sind noch gefährlich, da hier der Speer noch Potentiale aufzeigt.

Ob es für UBT (#18) nach vorne oder eher nach hinten geht, wird sich noch zeigen. BOINC@Poland (#19) und BOINCstats (#20) sind noch gefährlich und auch Team China (#21) sollten wir nicht abschreiben. Crystal Dream (#22) ist punktgleich mit dem roten Drachen unterwegs, wird aber auch LITOMYSL (#23), Meisterkühler (#24), Chinese Dream (#25) und Pfalz (#26) und Russia (#27) beäugen.

Morgen startet das Querfeldein und noch wissen wir nicht, wann der 4. Versuch beim Speer startet. Und es fehlt uns immer noch Disziplin Nr. 5. Es ist also noch viel zu tun. Einen Pentathlon, der so viele Fragezeichen setzt, hat es wohl auch noch nicht gegeben.

- Kann SG beim Querfeldein triumphieren?
- Kann TAAT #2 beim Marathon halten?
- Wann sehen wir in der Gesamtwertung klarer?
