Day 11 15 May 2025 #tick-tock​

The decisive hours are slowly but steadily ticking away. Today, the fourth javelin is thrown, and the day of the final attempt is now also known to the teams. It remains to be seen whether the participants will still have enough javelins in their big quivers in the end.

The next few days will also show whether 2ch will defend their rank in the Marathon. Perhaps you, dear loyal readers, will read more about that tomorrow. However, this is in the hands of my replacement. Since I will be in Stuttgart for the next two days, I went looking for someone who is not only professionally qualified, but also knows how to write.

And who better could it be than the person who corrected my tens of thousands of mistakes in the days before AI and spellcheck, who probably has his own time machine, as he always seems to have time, and who has also known the Pentathlon since its inception, and has nurtured, pampered, and shaped it. Look forward to pschoefer taking the suspense to the extreme over the next two days!

Oh yes, what else is happening?

Steeplechase (Einstein@Home)
TAAT's (#2) winning streak might actually end here, as GPUUG is still clearly leading the field. Nevertheless, I am not writing anyone off there, not least because of the bonus days. LTT continue to hold on to #3 and are steadily extending their lead over P3D (#4).

Ukraine is again in #5. They have a chance of reaching #4, but it will be tough. SG (#6) does not seem to be able to keep up so far. Maybe there is more to come. Behind them, teams are also following each other: CNT (#7), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#8), AMD Users (#9), and [H] (#10) are keeping distance from each other, but do not lose sight of each other.

RKN is doing well in #11, but should keep an eye on AF (#12), as not all their hopes have been dashed yet. NoTEAM (#13) has just felt the sharp francophone beak, and we will see if they are motivated to counterattack by a desire for revenge, or if they have had enough.

BOINC.Italy in #14 again stays out of the skirmishes and probably wants to chase alone. And it is not as if MK (#15) and EVGA (#16) are particularly suitable partners. The two of them seem to be busy with each other rather than trying to make eyes at the Italians.

2ch (#17) made good use of the bonus to slowly pull away from TFFE (#18). TFFE also has to watch out for LITOMYSL (#19), who are already in their slipstream. At the end, Russia (#20) manages to increase the distance to BC (#21), although this distance is not really significant.

Overall Standings
I have neglected this ranking somewhat in the last few days. The reason for this is, you guessed it, that the javelins are still flying. But since all disciplines are on the scoreboard now, it is worth taking another look.

In #1 is currently LTT, but gold is probably already reserved for someone else. TAAT (#2) will certainly score enough points in the Javelin Throw to take the overall victory. However, silver is unlikely to be taken away from LTT, as their main rival P3D (#3) regularly finishes behind LTT.

#4 for SG is still far from a done deal. The reason for this is not GPUUG (#5), but Ukraine (#6), who impress with excellent and consistent performances this year and will make up points at the Javelin Throw.

Behind them, CNT (#7), [H] (#8), and RKN (#9) still have to determine the order. While CNT and [H] still have potential at the Javelin Throw, RKN will have to hope for slip-ups.

NoTEAM will probably not be able to hold on to #10. The weakness in the Marathon and expected losses at the Javelin Throw will have a major impact. Even though BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) will lose ground at the Javelin Throw, it could still be enough to overtake NoTEAM. It is not out of the question that AF (#12) could still jump into the top 10. They are performing consistently and could benefit from the losses of the others.

AMD Users (#13) and MK (#14) will fight their own duel behind them, with MK still in danger of losing points at the Javelin Throw. This could also lead to EVGA (#15), 2ch (#16), and BOINC.Italy (#17) being served something cold for dessert.

LITOMYSL seems to have secured #18, not least because of their good Sprint result. It remains to be seen whether BC (#19) can catch up, as they still have potential in the Steeplechase. The zero at the Javelin Throw is coming back to haunt Russia, as TFFE will now cross the finish line in #20, while Russia will wave the red lantern.

Die Stunden der Entscheidung ticken langsam aber stetig die Uhr herunter. Heute wird der vierte Speer geworfen und auch der letzte Wurftag ist den Teams inzwischen bekannt. Es bleibt nun abzuwarten, ob die Teilnehmer am Ende noch ausreichend Speere im großen Köcher haben.

Ob 2ch beim Marathon seinen Platz verteidigt, wird sich auch noch die Tage erweisen. Vielleicht werden Sie, sehr geehrte treue Leser, darüber morgen mehr erfahren. Dies allerdings liegt in der Hand meiner Vertretung. Da ich die nächsten beiden Tage Stuttgart heimsuchen werde, ging ich auf die Suche, jemanden zu finden, der einerseits fachlich qualifiziert, aber auch des Schreibens kundig ist.

Und wen gibt es besseren als jenen, der in Zeiten vor KI und Rechtschreibprüfung meine zigtausenden Fehler korrigiert hat, wohl eine eigene Zeitmaschine besitzt, da er scheinbar immer Zeit hat und den Pentathlon ebenso von Geburt an kennt, und ihn gehätschelt, getätschelt und geformt hat. Freuen Sie sich, pschoefer wird die nächsten beiden Tage die Spannung bis auf die Spitze treiben!

Ach ja, worum geht es noch?

Jagdrennen (Einstein@Home)
Hier könnte tatsächlich die Siegesserie von TAAT (#2) enden, denn GPUUG führt weiter deutlich das Feld an. Dennoch schreibe ich hier niemanden ab, was auch an den Bonustagen liegt. LTT hält sich weiter wacker auf #3 und schafft es, den Vorsprung auf P3D (#4) stetig auszubauen.

Wieder auf #5 ist Ukraine zu finden. Eine Chance auf #4 ist gegeben, dürfte aber anstrengend werden. SG (#6) scheint da bisher nicht mithalten zu können. Vielleicht kommt da ja noch was. Hintereinander geht es auch dahinter zu: CNT (#7), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#8), AMD Users (#9) und [H] (#10) halten voneinander Abstand, ohne sich aber aus den Augen zu verlieren.

RKN hält sich gut auf #11, sollte aber auf AF (#12) achten, denn dort sind bis jetzt nicht alle Hoffnungen fahren gelassen worden. NoTEAM (#13) hat gerade den scharfen frankophonen Schnabel zu spüren bekommen, wir werden sehen, ob da Rachegelüste zum Gegenschlag motivieren oder sie genug haben.

BOINC.Italy hält sich auf #14 wieder aus den Scharmützeln raus und will wohl alleine jagen. Es ist ja auch nicht so, dass sich MK (#15) und EVGA (#16) als Partner besonders anbieten. Die beiden scheinen auch eher miteinander beschäftigt zu sein als den Italienern schöne Augen machen zu wollen.

2ch (#17) hat den Bonus gut genutzt, um sich langsam von TFFE (#18) zu entfernen. TFFE muss dabei auch auf LITOMYSL (#19) achtgeben, die sich bereits im Windschatten befinden. Am Ende gelingt es Russia (#20), die Distanz auf BC (#21) zu vergrößern, wobei die Entfernung nicht der Rede wert ist.

Gesamtwertung
Diese Wertung habe ich die letzten Tage etwas stiefmütterlich behandelt. Das liegt, Sie ahnen es, daran, dass die Speere noch fliegen. Da aber alle Disziplinen auf der Anzeigetafel in der Wertung sind, lohnt sich wieder mal ein Blick.

Auf #1 steht derzeit LTT, allerdings ist Gold wohl bereits anderweitig eingeplant. TAAT (#2) wird beim Speer sicher noch genug Punkte holen, den Gesamtsieg einzufahren. Silber dürfte LTT aber kaum noch zu nehmen sein, da Hauptrivale P3D (#3) regelmäßig hinter LTT landet.

Platz 4 für SG ist noch lange nicht in trockenen Tüchern. Das liegt nicht GPUUG (#5), sondern an Ukraine (#6), die in diesem Jahr durch hervorragende und stabile Leistungen auffallen und beim Speer noch Punkte gutmachen werden.

Dahinter werden CNT (#7), [H] (#8) und RKN (#9) die Reihenfolge noch definieren. Während CNT und [H] beim Speer noch Möglichkeiten haben, muss RKN auf Patzer hoffen.

Für NoTEAM wird #10 wohl nicht haltbar sein. Die Schwäche beim Marathon und erwartbare Verluste beim Speer schlagen voll ins Kontor. Auch wenn BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) beim Speer noch Federn lassen wird, könnte es dennoch für ein Überholmanöver reichen. Dass AF (#12) noch in die Top 10 springt, ist nicht ausgeschlossen. Sie sind stabil unterwegs und könnten von den Verlusten der anderen profitieren.

AMD Users (#13) und MK (#14) werden dahinter ihr eigenes Duell ausfechten, wobei MK beim Speer noch Verluste drohen. Das könnte auch dazu führen, dass EVGA (#15), 2ch (#16) und BOINC.Italy (#17) noch etwas Kaltes als Nachtisch serviert bekommen.

LITOMYSL scheint #18 gesichert zu haben, auch durch die gute Platzierung beim Sprint. Ob da BC (#19) noch herankommt, bleibt abzuwarten, denn beim Jagdrennen haben sie noch Reserven. Für Russia rächt sich die Nullnummer beim Speer, denn so wird TFFE auf #20 durchs Ziel gehen, während sie die rote Laterne schwenken.
