The first 36 hours of the most legendary and challenging event of the year are behind us. As usual, there is no calm after the initial tussle, but it is slowly becoming clear how the teams are doing this time. And if that was not enough, the Javelin Throw has been scheduled as the third discipline already.

Today I am walking along the MilkyWay, before I take a first look at the overall standings.

City Run (MilkyWay@home)
TAAT have further extended their lead and are already a few stellar systems ahead. Behind them, P3D went on the attack and took #2. SG does not really like this, but the blue-yellow camp can live with #3 for now.

LTT crunched their way to #4 with a solid performance and relegated Ukraine to #5. Ukraine's best individual results so far were multiple seventh ranks and there is a good chance that they can top this result.

The reason for this is behind them. While the following teams are running quite close to each other, they lost contact to the teams in front. GPUUG (#6) is still holding up best, BOINC@AUSTRALIA is just behind in #7. Close behind are NoTEAM, who just spurted into #8, as well as CNT (#9) and AF (#10). RKN (#11) is also getting ready to enter the fray.

[H] is currently in #12. While they were able to reduce the deficit a bit, this is not enough to further move up the rankings. Their weak start probably cost them important credits.

The elevator is apparently heading down for LITOMYSL (#13). After a good start, they lost a few ranks, and now 2ch (#14) also seems to have developed a taste for them. Behind them, AMD Users (#15) and BOINC.Italy (#16) are currently in a tight race, with the Italians trying to hold up.

EVGA (#17) and BC (#18) have been steaming ahead. They are only separated by a whisker and could both pass MK (#19) and TFFE (#20). Meanwhile, Russia retains the red lantern.

Overall Standings
Several different groups are crystallizing here right now. While TAAT is pulling away, the battle for silver and bronze seems to have heated up between P3D (#2), LTT (#3), and SG (#4). At the moment, I cannot see any other teams that might be able to put pressure on the quartet at the top.

Ukraine in #5 is a surprising sight, however. The next disciplines will show whether CNT (#6), [H] (#7), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#7), AF (#9), and 2ch (#10) can still get involved in the fight for #5. It also cannot be ruled out that GPUUG and RKN (both #11) will also have a say in this.

In the duel between AMD Users (#13) and NoTEAM (#14), AMD Users currently have their nose in front. Just behind them, we have an illustrious trio consisting of BOINC.Italy and EVGA in #15 and LITOMYSL (#17). Whether this trio becomes a quartet depends solely on MK (#18), who will have to do a little more if they want to join them. Russia holds on to #19 and manages to keep BC and TFFE (both #20) behind.

• Will Ukraine manage to keep their competitors behind them?
• Can 2ch follow up on their good results of the past?
• Will P3D be able to attack the Marathon?

Die ersten 36 Stunden des legendärsten und herausforderndsten Ereignisses des Jahres sind zurückgelegt. Wie gewohnt ist nach dem ersten Gerangel zwar keine Ruhe eingetreten, aber es lässt sich langsam herauslesen, wie die Teams dieses Mal drauf sind. Und wäre das nicht genug, ist mit dem Speerwerfen bereits die dritte Disziplin terminiert worden, also terminiert und nicht terminatorisiert.

Heute wandele ich auf der MilkyWay, um anschließend mal einen ersten Blick auf die Verhältnisse in der Gesamtwertung zu werfen.

Stadtlauf (MilkyWay@home)
TAAT hat weiter seine Führung ausgebaut und ist schon ein paar Sternensysteme voraus. Dahinter hat P3D die Abteilung Attacke ausgepackt und #2 erlaufen. Dies schmeckt SG nicht wirklich, aber mit aktuell #3 kann man im blaugelben Lager vorerst leben.

LTT hat sich mit stabiler Leistung auf #4 gecruncht und die Ukraine auf #5 verwiesen. Das beste Einzelergebnis der Ukraine waren bisher diverse siebente Plätze und die Chancen stehen gut, dass man dieses Ergebnis toppen kann.

Der Grund liegt dahinter. Die folgenden Teams laufen zwar recht eng beieinander, haben aber den Anschluss nach vorn verloren. GPUUG (#6) hält sich dabei noch am besten, knapp dahinter BOINC@AUSTRALIA auf #7. Kurz dahinter sind NoTEAM, welches gerade #8 erspurtet hat, sowie CNT (#9) und AF (#10). Und dazu schickt sich RKN (#11) an, auch noch mitzumischen.

[H] finden wir derzeit auf #12. Zwar konnten sie sich etwas nach vorn arbeiten, aber das reicht derzeit nicht, um weitere Plätze gutzumachen. Hier kostete die schwache Anfangsphase wohl wichtige Credits.

Für LITOMYSL (#13) ist im Fahrstuhl wohl der Kurs nach unten gestellt. Nach einem guten Start hat man einige Plätze verloren und nun scheint auch noch 2ch (#14) auf den Geschmack gekommen zu sein. Knapp geht es derzeit dahinter zwischen AMD Users (#15) und BOINC.Italy (#16) zu, wobei die Italiener versuchen gegenzuhalten.

Dampf gegeben haben EVGA (#17) und BC (#18). Beide trennt nur eine Haaresbreite und konnten geschlossen MK (#19) und TFFE (#20) überholen. Russia dagegen behält die rote Laterne.

Gesamtwertung
Hier kristallisieren sich gerade die verschiedenen Grüppchen heraus. Während TAAT enteilt, scheint der Kampf um Silber und Bronze zwischen P3D (#2), LTT (#3) und SG (#4) entbrannt zu sein. Aktuell kann ich keine anderen Teams ausmachen, die das Quartett an der Spitze bedrängen könnten.

Die Ukraine auf #5 ist dagegen ein überraschender Anblick. Hier werden die nächsten Disziplinen zeigen, ob CNT (#6), [H] (#7), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#7), AF (#9) und 2ch (#10) beim Ringen um #5 noch mitmischen können. Auch ist nicht ausgeschlossen, dass GPUUG und RKN (beide #11) da auch noch was zu melden haben.

Ob aus diesem Trio ein Quartett wird, hängt einzig von MK (#18) ab, die aber dafür etwas mehr machen müssen. Russia hält sich auf #19 und schafft es, BC und TFFE (beide #20) hinter sich zu halten.

• Wird es der Ukraine gelingen, die Konkurrenz hinter sich zu halten?
• Gelingt es 2ch, an die guten Ergebnisse der Vergangenheit anzuknüpfen?
• Ist P3D in der Lage, beim Marathon zu attackieren?

Ihr seht, es bleibt spannend beim BOINC Pentathlon.
