The day of the first decision is underway. The next hours will decide the City Run and the first important points will be awarded. At the same time, the field at NFS@Home is prepared for the first throw. Therefore, I will focus on these two disciplines today and tomorrow.

It has also been announced that the Steeplechase starts on Monday at Einstein@Home. Are those nice certificates still available, one of which is in my office? Maybe I will find out. Anyway, it is clear that the pieces are now on the board and the teams can align their strategies.

A look at the overall standings makes sense only after the third javelin attempt, but then we can speculate endlessly.

City Run (MilkyWay@home)
TAAT is likely on the verge of their next triumph, but it is all happening now behind them. LTT (#3) is chasing P3D (#2) or P3D is chasing LTT. Neither of them looks like they are going to falter. It is skin-tight here, fierce looks are exchanged, and neither wants to give in. Simply marvelous.

Rank 4 seems very likely for SG, unless Ukraine (#5) can pull off a surprise. The Ukrainians are on the verge of their biggest success in an individual discipline, as CNT (#6) is already a long way behind them as their closest pursuer.

Meanwhile, there is still a fierce battle for #7 and the remaining top 10 spots. Currently, [H] has the best cards for #7, but GPUUG (#8) and RKN (#9) are pushing each other, so there might be more in it for both teams. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#10) and AF (#11) could theoretically still get involved in the battle for #7, as well, but neither team seems quite ready for this. AF is only a blink of an eye behind the marsupials at the moment, which will probably make for a long evening here as well.

NoTEAM seems content with #12 and is running along stoically. And they can afford to do so, as AMD Users (#13) are already some distance away, even though they just passed LITOMYSL (#14). Things could get even worse for LITOMYSL, as 2ch (#15) is closing in. However, the Japanese will still have to move up a gear or hope for a slump, otherwise it will be difficult.

The pasta is not yet cooked for BOINC.Italy either, as #16 is probably still coveted by team MK (#17). The cool ones were able to break away a bit from BC (#18) and EVGA (#19), leaving these two with their own duel. Even though TFFE is still trying everything to leave #20, their chances are unfortunately limited. At least Russia (#21) seems unlikely to pose a threat.

So there are still some exciting hours ahead!

Javelin Throw (NFS@Home)
It remains to be seen which teams will give their all today and who is still warming up. Since the next attempt is already in sight, we will probably see some serious throws today or the day after tomorrow. The third-best throw is ultimately counted for the rankings.

CNT (#1), LTT (#2), and BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#3) seem to be throwing at full power. There are hints that this is also true for GPUUG (#4) and LITOMYSL (#5); MK (#7) are definitely serious.

Last year's medalists still seem to be resting, although P3D (#6) just twitched. SG (#8) is also still at rest. AF in #9 is still hard to assess, whereas TAAT (#10) is definitely skipping or has fallen into a coma.

RKN in #11, EVGA in #12 and AMD Users in #13 do not stand out so far, but RKN in particular does not seem to be reaching their full potential yet. BC is rarely to be found in #14, so it is reasonable to assume that their throw is serious.

BOINC.Italy is just behind in #15. The Italians are a bit too lethargic for my taste at the moment. We can definitely expect more from 2ch (#16), Ukraine (#17), and [H] (#18). TFFE and Russia have shown no signs of movement so far. For both, dropping the Javelin Throw altogether might well be an option in order to be stronger elsewhere. Another candidate for a big jump is NoTEAM. Everything points to them taking it easy in perfection or being on strike.

Der erste Tag der Entscheidung läuft. In den nächsten Stunden wird die Entscheidung beim Stadtlauf fallen und die ersten wichtigen Punkte werden vergeben. Zeitgleich ist bei NFS@Home der Platz bereitet für den ersten Wurf. Daher konzentriere ich mich heute und morgen auf diese beiden Disziplinen.

Und nun steht auch fest, dass ab Montag das Jagdrennen bei Einstein@Home stattfindet. Gibt es eigentlich die netten Urkunden noch, von denen eine bei mir im Büro steht? Vielleicht bekomme ich das ja noch raus. Klar ist aber, dass jetzt die Spielsteine auf dem Brett liegen und die Teams nun ihre Strategien ausrichten können.

Der Blick auf die Gesamtwertung macht erst wieder nach dem 3. Durchgang beim Speer Sinn, aber dann können wir spekulieren ohne Ende.

Stadtlauf (MilkyWay@home)
TAAT steht wohl vor dem nächsten Triumph, aber dahinter geht es rund. LTT (#3) jagt P3D (#2) oder P3D jagt LTT. Beide machen nicht den Eindruck, dass sie schwächeln könnten. Hauteng geht es hier zu, grimmige Blicke werden sich zugeworfen und keiner möchte nachgeben. Einfach herrlich.

Platz 4 für SG erscheint da schon wahrscheinlicher, wenn nicht die Ukraine (#5) noch eine Überraschung auspackt. Die Ukrainer stehen vor ihrem größten Einzelerfolg, da CNT (#6) als nächster Verfolger schon ein ordentliches Stück dahinter liegt.

Um Platz 7 und die weiteren Plätze in den Top 10 wird dagegen noch heftig gerungen. Aktuell hat [H] die besten Karten für #7, aber GPUUG (#8) und RKN (#9) puschen sich ebenso gegenseitig, sodass für die beiden Teams mehr drin sein könnte. Theoretisch könnten BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#10) und AF (#11) auch noch in den Kampf um #7 eingreifen, allerdings scheinen mir die beiden Teams nicht so richtig fit dafür. Derzeit liegt AF nur einen Wimpernschlag hinter den Beuteltieren, was wohl auch hier für einen langen Abend sorgen wird.

NoTEAM scheint mit #12 zufrieden zu sein und läuft stoisch vor sich hin. Das kann man sich ja auch leisten, denn die AMD Users (#13) sind schon um Einiges entfernt, auch wenn diese gerade LITOMYSL (#14) überholt haben. Und für LITOMYSL könnte es noch schlimmer kommen, da sich 2ch (#15) nähert. Allerdings müssen die Japaner noch eine Schippe drauf legen oder auf einen Einbruch hoffen, ansonsten wird es schwer.

Auch bei BOINC.Italy ist die Pasta noch nicht gegessen, denn #16 begehrt wohl auch noch das Team MK (#17). Die Coolen haben sich etwas von BC (#18) und EVGA (#19) lösen können und so die beiden ihrem eigenen Duell überlassen. Auch wenn TFFE noch alles versucht, um von #20 herunterzukommen, sind die Chancen leider wohl begrenzt. Zumindest von Russia (#21) droht wohl keine Gefahr.

Spannende Stunden stehen uns also noch ins Haus!

Speerwerfen (NFS@Home)
Noch bleibt offen, welche Teams heute bereits alles geben und wer noch in der Erwärmungsphase ist. Da der nächste Versuch bereits absehbar ist, dürften wir heute oder übermorgen ernstzunehmende Würfe sehen. In die Wertung geht letztlich der drittbeste Wurf ein.

Die volle Kraft scheinen CNT (#1), LTT (#2) und BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#3) hineingelegt zu haben. Bei GPUUG (#4) und LITOMYSL (#5) gibt es Anzeichen dafür; MK (#7) meinen es definitiv ernst.

Die Medaillengewinner des Vorjahres scheinen sich noch zu schonen, wobei P3D (#6) gerade gezuckt hat. Bei SG (#8) ist auch noch Ruhe eingekehrt. AF auf #9 ist noch schwer auszumachen, wogegen TAAT (#10) definitiv auslässt oder ins Koma gefallen ist.

RKN auf #11, EVGA auf #12 und AMD Users auf #13 ragen bisher nicht heraus, aber gerade RKN scheint mir noch nicht das ganze Potenzial abzurufen. BC ist selten auf #14 zu finden, somit liegt die Vermutung nahe, dass man hier Ernst macht.

Kurz dahinter findet sich BOINC.Italy auf #15 wieder. Die Italiener sind mir derzeit etwas zu lethargisch unterwegs. Definitiv noch etwas zu erwarten ist von 2ch (#16), Ukraine (#17) und [H] (#18). TFFE und Russia haben bisher noch keine Regung gezeigt. Für beide könnte es durchaus eine Option sein, das Speerwerfen ganz wegzuwerfen, um woanders umso stärker zu sein. Ein Kandidat für einen großen Sprung ist auch das NoTEAM. Hier deutet alles auf die perfekte Schonung oder Streik hin.
