Day 7 11 May 2025 #overshortorlong​

It is halftime, half of the Pentathlon is done. Today, I will once again look at the Marathon, where some interesting things have happened. I will analyze the second attempt at the Javelin Throw tomorrow, but a few interesting developments can already be seen. And then there is the Sprint, where the field has sorted itself out. And tomorrow we will kick off the fifth discipline with the Steeplechase.

Sprint (SRBase)
When it comes to suspense, TAAT crashes every party; they are just too dominant again this year. At the Sprint, they are once again clearly in the lead and leave the usual suspects behind them. In #2, we find LTT again, who are a very hot contender for the overall podium this year. P3D is currently in #3 and struggling to keep contact.

The gaps look quite large in the rankings, but do not forget that the average speed here is quite high. And that means things can change quickly. The current team of the year is probably Ukraine in #4. This would be another best result and even seems realistic, as SG (#5) and [H] (#6) are well behind. The Germans in particular should finally get into their stride, at least there was a sign of life in the last few hours in the form of a strong intermediate sprint.

CNT managed to do the same and move up to #7. Still in their slipstream, NoTEAM (#8) has to be careful now not to lose contact. In addition, RKN (#9) is getting closer and becoming a serious threat. GPUUG (#10) currently seems to be lacking the sprightliness and there is a big risk that the deficit to the front will become too large.

All of this is probably too stressful for the Francophones of AF, as they seem to be content with #11. And we might once again witness a duel with BOINC@AUSTRALIA, who have worked their way up to #12 and are currently running very fast. The gap is still huge, but it is not insurmountable.

LITOMYSL in #13 just had to recover from the loss of one rank, and now MK (#14) and EVGA (#15) could also pose a threat. AMD Users took #16 and pushed BOINC.Italy into #17. Not far behind is TFFE (#18), followed by BC (#19). The gaps are small here, so ranking changes may occur at any time. Russia and 2ch definitely seem to have decided to skip the Sprint.

Marathon (World Community Grid: only subproject Mapping Cancer Markers)
It is normal that things are rather calm at the Marathon. There has been little movement in the field over the past few days. The question now is if this is the calm before the storm or if the teams are already asleep. In the latter case, alert teams could cause quite a stir. And that is what we have just seen. But first things first.

TAAT continues to control the field. They are followed again by the Duo Infernale of LTT (#2) and P3D (#3). The pace has synchronized within this trio, so the gaps do not change at the moment. However, their pace is still faster than the teams behind them.

2ch continues to secure #4 by extending their lead over SG (#5) in the last few hours. This cannot be to the liking of SG, as it will be a real challenge to still catch up with the Japanese. And now they also have to watch out for Ukraine.

The Ukrainians managed to take #6 with a strong intermediate spurt and caught [H] (#7) off guard, who now have to be careful not to whet the appetite of CNT (#8). Behind them, AF is in #9. However, it is not a good idea for them to relax either. RKN (#10), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), and AMD Users (#12) are not out of sight and could attack any time.

EVGA (#13) and BOINC.Italy (#14) are currently running in unison as well. The two do not give each other any advantage at the moment, even though the Italians are struggling hard. Russia is doing quite well in #15, currently trying to shake off GPUUG (#16). The latter in turn have to keep an eye on MK (#17), not only because MK seems to be slightly faster at the moment; we also know that they are always good for quick moves.

NoTEAM (#18) is still not doing much, and LITOMYSL (#19) is also faltering in this discipline at the moment. Behind them are TFFE (#20) and BC (#21). It remains to be seen which of the two will carry the red lantern to the finish line. Currently, there seems to be a little more life in BC.

As you can see, even if things are a little calmer on the long-distance track, it is not necessarily boring. The current situation offers some good opportunities for clever teams.

Es ist Halbzeit, die Hälfte des Pentathlon ist geschafft. Heute schaue ich mal wieder zum Marathon, wo sich Interessantes getan hat. Den zweiten Speerversuch schaue ich mir morgen auswertend an, aber bereits jetzt sind einige interessante Entwicklungen zu entdecken. Und da ist noch der Sprint, wo sich das Feld sortiert hat. Und ab morgen werden wir mit dem Jagdrennen die fünfte Disziplin starten.

Sprint (SRBase)
Wenn es um die Spannung geht, crasht TAAT jede Party, zu dominant sind sie auch in diesem Jahr. Auch beim Sprint führen sie wieder klar und lassen die üblichen Verdächtigen hinter sich. Auf #2 zu finden ist wieder LTT, die in diesem Jahr ganz heißer Anwärter auf das Gesamtpodium sind. P3D findet sich aktuell auf #3 wieder und kann den Anschluss nicht halten.

In der Tabelle sind die Abstände recht groß anzusehen, aber vergessen Sie nicht, dass hier die Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit recht hoch ist. Und das heißt, es kann schnell auch mal anders kommen. Das aktuelle Team des Jahres ist wohl Ukraine mit #4. Das wäre wieder ein Bestwert und das scheint sogar realistisch, da SG (#5) und [H] (#6) deutlich zurückliegen. Gerade die Deutschen sollten langsam aus den Puschen kommen, zumindest ein Lebenszeichen gab es in den letzten Stunden in Form eines kräftigen Zwischensprints.

Den hat auch CNT hingelegt und sich so auf #7 schieben können. Noch im Windschatten muss NoTEAM (#8) jetzt aufpassen, den Anschluss nicht zu verlieren. Dazu kommt, dass RKN (#9) näher kommt und so zu einer ernsten Gefahr wird. GPUUG (#10) scheint aktuell etwas die Spritzigkeit zu fehlen, die Gefahr ist groß, dass der Rückstand nach vorne zu groß wird.

Den Francophonen der AF ist das alles wohl zu stressig, #11 scheint ihnen zu genügen. Und wieder könnten wir Zeugen eines Duells mit BOINC@AUSTRALIA werden, die sich auf #12 vorgearbeitet haben und aktuell sehr flott unterwegs sind. Noch ist der Rückstand gewaltig, aber uneinholbar ist er nicht.

LITOMYSL auf #13 musste gerade den Platzverlust verdauen und jetzt könnte auch noch von MK (#14) und EVGA (#15) Gefahr drohen. Die AMD Users haben #16 in Beschlag genommen und BOINC.Italy auf #17 geschoben. Nicht weit dahinter ist TFFE (#18) unterwegs, gefolgt von BC (#19). Die Abstände hier sind eng und Platzveränderungen so jederzeit möglich. Russia und 2ch haben sich wohl definitiv entschlossen, den Sprint auszulassen.

Marathon (World Community Grid: nur das Subprojekt Mapping Cancer Markers)
Dass es im Marathon eher ruhig zugeht, ist normal. In den vergangenen Tagen gab es kaum Bewegung im Feld. Die Frage ist nun, ob das die Ruhe vor dem Sturm ist oder ob die Teams schon schlafen. Wenn letzteres, könnten Aufgeweckte kräftig Wirbel verursachen. Und das haben wir gerade gesehen. Aber der Reihe nach.

Das Feld hat TAAT weiter unter Kontrolle. Auch hier folgt das Duo Infernale aus LTT (#2) und P3D (#3). Bei diesem Trio hat sich das Tempo eingetaktet, so dass Veränderungen im Abstand derzeit nicht stattfinden. Dieses Tempo ist aber immer noch schneller als bei den Teams dahinter.

Platz 4 wird weiter von 2ch abgesichert, auch indem man die letzten Stunden den Vorsprung vor SG (#5) ausgebaut hat. Das kann SG nicht schmecken, denn damit wird es eine echte Herausforderung, noch die Japaner einzuholen. Und jetzt müssen sie auch noch auf die Ukraine achtgeben.

Denn diese haben es geschafft, #6 mit einem kräftigen Zwischenspurt zu erreichen und konnten so [H] (#7) überrumpeln, die nun aufpassen müssen, damit nicht auch noch CNT (#8) Appetit bekommt. Dahinter ist AF auf #9 unterwegs. Allerdings ist es auch hier keine gute Idee, entspannen zu wollen. RKN (#10), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) und die AMD Users (#12) sind nicht außer Sicht und können jederzeit angreifen.

Im Gleichklang unterwegs sind derzeit auch EVGA (#13) und BOINC.Italy (#14). Aktuell schenken sich die beiden nichts, auch wenn die Italiener heftig kämpfen müssen. Recht gut unterwegs ist Russia auf #15, die derzeit versuchen, GPUUG (#16) abschütteln. Diese wiederum müssen auf MK (#17) ein Auge werfen. Nicht nur, weil MK derzeit leicht flotter scheint; wir wissen auch, dass sie immer wieder für schnelle Aktionen gut sind.

Beim NoTEAM (#18) ist weiterhin nicht viel los und auch LITOMYSL (#19) schwächelt bei dieser Disziplin derzeit. Dahinter sind TFFE (#20) und BC (#21) unterwegs. Wer von den beiden die rote Laterne ins Ziel tragen wird, ist derzeit noch offen. Aktuell scheint in BC etwas mehr Leben zu stecken.

Sie sehen, auch wenn es auf der Langstrecke etwas ruhiger zugeht, muss es nicht langweilig sein. Cleveren Teams bietet das aktuelle Bild gute Chancen.

• Wer startet am zweitbesten beim Jagdrennen?
• Kann die Ukraine ihren Lauf fortsetzen?
• Werden die Teams beim Speer ihre Karten aufdecken?
