Day 8 12 May 2025 #chasethecredits​

The second javelin has been thrown, the Sprint is in its final stages, and the Steeplechase has started. So there is a lot going on today, as the final, all-decisive phase of this Pentathlon begins. There will be a lot of action in the next days until the grand finale on Sunday. But first things first.

Javelin Throw (NFS@Home)
Things are getting really interesting here after two throws. LTT (#1) really left their mark yesterday and threw the javelin to a top distance. However, this will now have to be repeated twice in order to win gold or silver. As TAAT (#9) is still only watching, it is not yet possible to assess what this distance is worth.

BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#2) apparently took a little break and will probably follow up on their first throw tomorrow. And there a duel with RKN is looming, who followed up on their first throw yesterday. However, RKN will have to take a closer look and step up their game, because the Australians already have an advantage thanks to two slightly farther throws. But do not forget, it is the third-best that counts!

P3D (#4) also revealed their cards yesterday, but their hand probably has its pitfalls. SG (#7) could snatch the Javelin Throw medal, as the Blue and Yellows threw better yesterday. MK (#5) have improved slightly and seem to exhaust their potential.

AF (#6) stepped up their game yesterday, giving them a good chance of leaving GPUUG (#8) behind. EVGA in #10 has made two equally good throws so far, is there still more to come? The third throw will probably shed some light on this. The same applies to AMD Users (#11).

CNT (#12) gathered strength yesterday und will probably have another good throw tomorrow. Finishing in #5 seems possible at the moment. BC (#13) is in the same ballpark as the AMD Users, but did not quite match their distance. But they are ready if there is a slip-up.

NoTEAM (#14) staked out their range yesterday. They cannot get close to CNT, but should easily finish in the top 10. There could be a duel with [H] (#18), who have a similar top distance. However, NoTEAM has the advantage so far.

BOINC.Italy in #15 weakened somewhat yesterday and will ultimately have little chance of retaining this rank. The next two teams are hard to assess at the moment. 2ch (#16) and Ukraine (#17) currently seem a little too weak to me. While it is certainly possible that there is no more to come from 2ch, I actually expect more from Ukraine. Maybe they want to secure their result in the Sprint, we will see.

TFFE (#19) did show some movement yesterday, but it seems a bit unmotivated to me. On the other hand, we will have to watch out for LITOMYSL tomorrow, as they obviously took a break yesterday. Russia will have to come clean tomorrow; two zeros so far mean that they have to get involved tomorrow or else miss out at the Javelin Throw.

Sprint (SRBase)
Final Spurt! The field seems pretty calm, so we will wait and see what happens here in the next few hours. TAAT (#1) will be hard to catch, and LTT (#2) and P3D (#3) seem to have taken up their ranks. But I am not really sure about that yet. Perhaps there will be an unleashed storming run in the end. Ukraine has a good chance of sprinting to #4, even though they will probably keep looking back anxiously to SG (#5). They are always good for surprises. In addition, SG cannot afford to take a break, because [H] (#6) is still a threat and could attack at any time.

NoTEAM (#7) is currently on a really good run. CNT (#8) will be keeping a close eye on how long their energy will last, as they would certainly love to strike back. RKN (#9), who are running in the slipstream of the Czechs, are also in on it.

GPUUG seems content with #10 and this calculation could even work out, since AF (#11) is not exerting any pressure at the moment. But what happens if the rooster mobilizes? The air is slowly getting thin for BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) as LITOMYSL (#13) is steadily closing in. Even though there is still some way to go, #12 will be lost if BOINC@AUSTRALIA do not hold their ground.

MK (#14) and EVGA (#15) are close together and will have to fight to the end. In contrast, AMD Users (#16) seem to be able to take it easy already, as BOINC.Italy (#17) appears quite small in the rearview mirror. TFFE has a good chance of finishing in #18, as BC (#19) cannot keep up in a significant way. And at the end, Russia (#20) has at least ventured onto the track, while 2ch is doing nothing here either.

Steeplechase (Einstein@Home)
Here we have an unusual picture. GPUUG in the lead, followed by CNT and BOINC@AUSTRALIA. The first constant is SG in #4, followed by AMD Users (#5) and LTT (#6). TAAT is only in #7. P3D (#8) is also not where we would expect them. In contrast, RKN in #9 and AF in #10 are no surprises.

Of course, it would be great if teams other than the usual suspects would set the pace here, but that is probably too good to be true. There will be a few more changes before tomorrow.

BOINC.Italy in #11 also looks excellent, followed by Ukraine (#12), who we would expect to do better. [H] in #13 still have potential and TFFE (#14) would probably be delighted if the chase was already over. NoTEAM (#15) is also on unfamiliar ground.

EVGA (#16) and 2ch (#17) are currently keeping Russia (#18) at bay, who in turn can hold off BC (#19) and MK (#20). And LITOMYSL in #21 is also an unusual sight.

Some teams are probably waiting to chase later on in the Steeplechase. We will probably know more tomorrow.

Der zweite Speer wurde geworfen, der Sprint ist in der Endphase und das Jagdrennen hat begonnen. Es ist heute also viel los und damit beginnt die finale alles entscheidende Phase dieses Fünfkampfes. Die nächsten Tage geht es Schlag auf Schlag bis zum großen Finale am Sonntag. Doch der Reihe nach.

Speerwerfen (NFS@Home)
Nach zwei Würfen wird es hier richtig interessant. LTT (#1) hat gestern eine heftige Duftmarke gesetzt und so den Speer auf eine Topweite geworfen. Dies muss nun aber noch zweimal wiederholt werden, dann könnte es mit Gold oder Silber klappen. Da TAAT (#9) weiterhin nur Beobachter ist, lässt sich noch nicht abschätzen, was diese Weite nun wert ist.

BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#2) hat gestern wohl eine kleine Pause eingelegt und wird wohl morgen nachlegen. Und hier bahnt sich ein Duell mit RKN (#3) an, die gestern nachlegten. Allerdings muss RKN genau hinschauen und vor allem nachlegen, da die Australier bereits durch zwei etwas weitere Würfe einen Vorteil haben. Aber vergessen wir nicht, es zählt der drittbeste!

P3D (#4) hat gestern auch seine Karten aufgedeckt und das Blatt hat wohl so seine Tücken. Denn damit könnte SG (#7) die Speermedaille wegschnappen, da die Blaugelben gestern besser waren. MK (#5) haben sich etwas verbessert und scheinen ihre Möglichkeiten auszuschöpfen.

AF (#6) hat gestern noch nachgelegt und so gute Chancen GPUUG (#8) hinter sich zu lassen. EVGA auf #10 hat bisher zwei gleich gute Würfe hingelegt, ob da noch etwas kommt? Der dritte Wurf wird uns da wohl erhellen. Das gleiche gilt auch für die AMD Users (#11).

CNT (#12) hat gestern Kräfte gesammelt und so wird wohl morgen wieder ein guter Wurf erfolgen. Platz 5 am Ende scheint derzeit möglich. BC (#13) bewegt sich in dem Bereich der AMD Users, auch wenn man nicht ganz hinkommt. Aber sie stehen bereit, wenn der Ausrutscher kommen sollte.

NoTEAM (#14) hat gestern seine Range abgesteckt. An CNT kommt man so nicht ran, aber ein Top-10-Ergebnis ist damit locker drin. Hier könnte sich ein Duell mit [H] (#18) anbahnen, die eine ähnliche Bestweite haben. Allerdings ist NoTEAM bisher im Vorteil.

BOINC.Italy auf #15 hat gestern etwas nachgelassen und wird am Ende wenig Chancen haben diesen Platz zu halten. Schwer auszurechnen sind derzeit die nächsten beiden Akteure. 2ch (#16) und Ukraine (#17) werfen mir aktuell etwas zu kraftlos. Während es bei 2ch durchaus möglich ist, dass hier nicht mehr kommt, erwarte ich von Ukraine eigentlich mehr. Möglicherweise möchte man den Sprint absichern, wir werden sehen.

TFFE (#19) hat zwar gestern eine Regung gezeigt, die mir aber etwas unmotiviert daherkommt. Dagegen müssen wir morgen auf LITOMYSL achten, da man gestern eindeutig pausiert hat. Russia muss sich morgen bekennen, bisher zwei Nullnummern bedeuten ab morgen einzugreifen oder den Verzicht, beim Speer mitzumachen.

Sprint (SRBase)
Endspurt! Das Feld erscheint ziemlich ruhig, daher lassen wir uns überraschen, was sich hier in den nächsten Stunden noch ereignet. TAAT (#1) wird schwerlich einzuholen sein und auch LTT (#2) sowie P3D (#3) scheinen die Positionen bezogen zu haben. Doch so richtig sicher bin ich mir da nicht. Vielleicht gibt es da zum Schluss noch den entfesselten Sturmlauf. Die Ukraine hat gute Chancen, #4 zu ersprinten, auch wenn der bange Blick wohl ständig zurück zu SG (#5) geht. Die sind immer für Überraschungen gut. Dazu kommt, dass SG keine Pause machen darf, denn [H] (#6) ist durchaus noch eine Gefahr und könnte jederzeit attackieren.

Einen richtig guten Lauf hat derzeit NoTEAM (#7). Wie lange die Kräfte hier reichen, wird CNT (#8) genau im Auge haben, denn sie möchten sicher liebend gern zurückschlagen. Mit von der Partie ist auch noch RKN (#9), die im Windschatten der Tschechen unterwegs sind.

GPUUG scheint mit #10 zufrieden zu sein und da AF (#11) derzeit keinen Druck ausübt, könnte diese Rechnung sogar aufgehen. Aber was passiert, wenn der Hahn mobil macht? Für BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) wird die Luft langsam dünn, denn LITOMYSL (#13) kommt stetig näher. Auch wenn es noch ein Stück des Weges ist, wenn BOINC@AUSTRALIA nicht gegenhält, ist Platz 12 weg.

MK (#14) und EVGA (#15) sind eng beieinander unterwegs und werden bis zum Ende kämpfen müssen. Dagegen scheinen die AMD Users (#16) bereits ruhiger machen zu können, da BOINC.Italy (#17) im Rückspiegel recht klein ist. Gute Chancen auf #18 hat TFFE, da BC (#19) nicht signifikant mithalten kann. Und am Ende hat sich Russia (#20) zumindest auf die Strecke getraut, während 2ch auch hier nichts tut.

Jagdrennen (Einstein@Home)
Ungewohnt ist das Bild, das sich uns hier gerade bietet. GPUUG vorn, gefolgt von CNT und BOINC@AUSTRALIA. SG auf #4 ist dann die erste Konstante, gefolgt von AMD Users (#5) und LTT (#6). Erst auf #7 ist TAAT zu finden. Auch P3D (#8) ist nicht dort, wo wir sie erwartet haben. Dagegen sind RKN auf #9 und AF auf #10 keine Überraschungen.

Es wäre natürlich toll, wenn mal andere Teams als die üblichen Verdächtigen hier das Tempo bestimmen, allerdings ist das wohl zu schön, um wahr zu sein. Bis morgen wird es noch einige Änderungen geben.

Auch BOINC.Italy auf #11 sieht ausgezeichnet aus, gefolgt von Ukraine (#12), die wir auch besser erwarten würden. [H] auf #13 hat Potenzial und TFFE (#14) würde sich wohl freuen, wenn die Jagd jetzt schon beendet wäre. Auch NoTEAM (#15) ist auf ungewohntem Untergrund unterwegs.

EVGA (#16) und 2ch (#17) halten aktuell Russia (#18) auf Distanz, die wiederum BC (#19) und MK (#20) halten können. Und LITOMYSL auf #21 ist auch ein ungewohnter Anblick.

Hier warten wohl einige beim Jagdrennen ab, um später zu jagen. Morgen werden wir wohl mehr wissen.
