Day 9 13 May 2025 #suspensefunandgames​

If you also feel some inner restlessness, it could be because we entered the final phase of the Pentathlon. With the Sprint, the second discipline has come to an end, and the Steeplechase is heating up. In addition, there are the third javelin throw (which I will look at tomorrow) and surprising developments in the Marathon. Let us get started!

Marathon (World Community Grid: only subproject Mapping Cancer Markers)
Just a quick sprint here, as something is happening on the track. Ukraine has really followed through and reached #5, pushing SG down into #6. At the moment, SG seems to have been struck by lightning. At the very end, a duel between BC and TFFE is emerging. Let us see which of the two will see less red light in the end.

Sprint (SRBase)
The podium is a carbon copy of the City Run. TAAT clearly wins this race, followed by LTT, who continue to do everything they can to complete their best Pentathlon yet. P3D takes bronze again. Congratulations!

The Green Planet slowed down considerably in the end, which allowed Ukraine (#4) to get closer, but not close enough. SG (#5) also tried everything to catch Ukraine, but were ultimately unable to do so. However, they were at least able to put some distance between themselves and [H] (#6), who in turn had to watch NoTEAM (#7) coming closer and closer. But in the end it was not enough here either.

CNT took #8 just ahead of RKN (#9). Both teams gave each other nothing, neither was able to gain a significant speed advantage and so everything remained unchanged here. Behind them, GPUUG (#10) and AF (#11) crossed the finish line unchallenged.

Behind them, however, the calm was over. LITOMYSL caught BOINC@AUSTRALIA and thus #12. However, MK (#13) also wanted to finish in #12, but failed to do so. The Australians ultimately had to settle for #14.

On the final day, AMD Users were really on fire and moved up to #15. They probably could have done better if they had started their sprint in the Sprint a little earlier. EVGA was ultimately relegated to #16.

BOINC.Italy finished in #17, followed by TFFE (#18) and BC (#19). Since Russia (#20) at least got going, they do not finish last. That honor goes to 2ch, who skipped the Sprint completely.

Steeplechase (Einstein@Home)
In the Steeplechase, GPUUG gained some breathing room at the top, but behind them, TAAT (#2) has now woken up and is really stepping on the gas. While this is not enough to get closer, it means that the gap is no longer increasing significantly anymore.

For CNT, further trouble is looming after they dropped down into #3. SG (#4) and LTT (#5) are already set to overtake. The next few hours will show whether the battle for bronze remains a three-way fight.

Meanwhile, BOINC@AUSTRALIA in #6 is being zeroed in on by P3D (#7). The Green Planet is slowly closing in, but the gap to the top continues to increase. AMD Users (#8) have lost several ranks since yesterday. While their lead over Ukraine (#9) is clear, the pace of the pursuers is just as much faster.

NoTEAM chased their way to #10, leaving RKN (#11) and AF (#12) in the woods. BOINC.Italy are still holding their own in #13, but [H] (#14) has accelerated in the last few hours and is stalking them again.

EVGA moved down to #15, whereas TFFE was relegated to #16. 2ch (#17) could still have a bite at them, but will have to do a bit more, because otherwise there is nothing to bite. MK have pulled themselves together and are now in #18, just ahead of Russia (#19). Meanwhile, BC is in #20 with only LITOMYSL behind them.

There is still a lot possible in the Steeplechase, especially because some teams are still faltering at the moment.

• Can TAAT be defeated in the Steeplechase?
• Can SG strike back in the Marathon?
• Who gambles away at the Javelin Throw?

You see it remains exciting at the BOINC Pentathlon.

Wenn Sie auch so eine innere Unruhe spüren, könnte es daran liegen, dass wir in die finale Phase des Pentathlons eingetreten sind. Mit dem Sprint ist die zweite Disziplin zu Ende gegangen und das Jagdrennen nimmt an Fahrt auf. Dazu der dritte Speerwurf (mit dem ich mich morgen wieder befassen werde) und überraschende Entwicklungen beim Marathon. Legen wir los!

Marathon (World Community Grid: nur das Subprojekt Mapping Cancer Markers)
Hier nur kurzer Sprint, denn es tut sich was auf der Strecke. Ukraine hat nun wirklich Ernst gemacht und #5 erreicht und SG auf #6 geschoben. Aktuell scheint SG wie vom Blitz getroffen. Ganz am Ende entwickelt sich ein Duell zwischen BC und TFFE. Mal sehen, wer von den beiden am Ende weniger Rotlicht sieht.

Sprint (SRBase)
Das Podium ist eine Kopie des Stadtlaufes. TAAT gewinnt deutlich dieses Rennen, gefolgt von LTT, die weiter alles tun, um den bisher besten Pentathlon zu absolvieren. P3D holt wieder Bronze. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!

Der Grüne Planet nahm am Ende kräftig Tempo raus, was die Ukraine (#4) zwar näher, aber nicht nah genug brachte. Auch SG (#5) versuchte alles, um Ukraine abzufangen, doch das gelang am Ende nicht mehr. Doch somit konnten sie zumindest [H] (#6) distanzieren, die wiederum ansehen mussten, wie NoTEAM (#7) immer näher kam. Doch auch hier reichte es am Ende nicht mehr.

CNT holte #8 kurz vor RKN (#9). Beide Teams schenkten sich am Ende nichts, keiner konnte einen signifikanten Geschwindigkeitsüberschuss erreichen und somit blieb hier alles unverändert. Dahinter kamen ungefährdet GPUUG (#10) und AF (#11) ins Ziel.

Doch dahinter war die Ruhe vorbei. LITOMYSL schnappte sich noch BOINC@AUSTRALIA und damit #12. Allerdings wollten MK (#13) auch noch die 12 markieren, was aber nicht gelang. Die Australier mussten sich also am Ende mit #14 zufriedengeben.

Am Schlusstag hat AMD Users noch so richtig Feuer gemacht und sich so auf #15 platziert. Da wäre wohl mehr drin gewesen, wenn man den Sprint im Sprint etwas eher gezündet hätte. Für EVGA ging es am Ende noch auf #16 zurück.

BOINC.Italy kam auf #17 ins Ziel, gefolgt von TFFE (#18) und BC (#19). Da Russia (#20) zumindest losgelaufen ist, werden sie zumindest nicht Letzter. Diese Ehre gebührt 2ch, die den Sprint komplett sausen ließen.

Jagdrennen (Einstein@Home)
Auf der Jagd hat sich GPUUG an der Spitze etwas Luft verschafft, doch dahinter ist TAAT (#2) nun aufgewacht und gibt gehörig Gas. Das reicht zwar nicht, um näherzukommen, sorgt aber dafür, dass der Abstand nicht gravierend weiter wächst.

Nachdem CNT auf #3 zurückgefallen ist, droht nun weiteres Ungemach. Denn SG (#4) und LTT (#5) haben bereits zum Überholen angesetzt. Die nächsten Stunden werden zeigen, ob der Kampf um Bronze ein Dreikampf bleibt.

BOINC@AUSTRALIA auf #6 wird indessen von P3D (#7) aufs Korn genommen. Der Grüne Planet kommt langsam näher, allerdings wächst der Rückstand auf die Spitze weiter. Für die AMD Users (#8) ging es seit gestern um mehrere Plätze nach unten. Zwar ist der Vorsprung auf Ukraine (#9) deutlich, doch das Tempo der Verfolger ist ebenso deutlich besser.

Das NoTEAM hat sich auf #10 gejagt und damit RKN (#11) und AF (#12) im Wald stehen lassen. BOINC.Italy hält sich noch wacker auf #13, doch [H] (#14) hat die letzten Stunden beschleunigt und pirscht sich so wieder heran.

Für EVGA ging es auf #15, wogegen TFFE auf #16 zurückgereicht wurde. 2ch (#17) könnte da auch noch zubeißen, sollte dafür aber etwas mehr tun, denn sonst gibt es nichts zu beißen. MK haben sich auf #18 berappelt, kurz vor Russia (#19). BC ist derweil auf #20 zu finden und hat nur noch LITOMYSL hinter sich.

Beim Jagdrennen ist noch eine Menge möglich, vor allem weil einige Teams derzeit dort noch schwächeln.

• Ist TAAT beim Jagdrennen bezwingbar?
• Kann SG beim Marathon zurückschlagen?
• Wer verzockt sich beim Speerwerfen?

Ihr seht, es bleibt spannend beim BOINC Pentathlon.
