<div class="newsfloatleft"><a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/photoplog/index.php?n=13899"><img src="http://www.planet3dnow.de/photoplog/images/54308/1_Prime95-Logo.png" border="1" alt="Prime95"></a></div>Das weit verbreitete Tool Prime95, das gerne zu Stabilitätstests für übertaktete Systeme herangezogen wird, ist in der neuen Version 26.6 erschienen. Das Testprogramm fühlt insbesondere der CPU und dem verbauten Arbeitsspeicher auf den Zahn. Dabei meldet das Programm Fehler, die bei den Berechnungen auftreten, lange bevor sich Instabilitäten durch einen Absturz des Betriebssystems bemerkbar machen oder andere Datensätze beschädigt werden. Prime95 kann daher dazu verwendet werden, die Grenzen beim Systemtuning auszuloten.<p style="clear:left;">

See undoc.txt.</li><li>Faster FFT implementations are now selected for Core 2 CPUs with 1MB L2 cache or less (marketed under the Celeron and Pentium label).</li><li>New, slightly higher, trial factoring breakeven points.</li></ol>
<b>Bug fixes:</b><ul><li>Occasionally, P-1 stage 2 would report 100% complete before stage 2 completed. This bug has been around forever. I've finally found the cause! Fixed in 26.5 build 2.</li><li>Worktodo.txt was not updated properly when P-1 completed for a PRP test. Fixed in 26.5 build 3.</li><li>In 26.5 build 3, when benchmarking and measuring CPU speed the program will keep all cores busy by launching auxiliary threads that loop indefinitely. This should prevent Intel Turbo boost from kicking in. This should prevent cases where the CPU speed is reported as 1.87 GHz, yet a benchmark reports very fast timings because the CPU core has been boosted to 3.2 GHz because only one core is active.</li><li>In 26.5 build 3, the OS's mapping of hyperthreaded logical CPU numbers to physical CPUs is determined automatically at startup. The AffinityScramble setting (see undoc.txt) is no longer supported. It is replaced by the AffinityScramble2 setting.</li><li>In 26.5 build 3, the message "set affinity to run on any cpu" instead listed all the CPU numbers and as well as CPU #31. Fixed in build 4.</li><li>In 26.5 build 3 and 4, benchmarking a dual-core non-SSE2 machine will crash. Fixed in build 5.</li><li>KeepPminus1SaveFiles=0 option described in undoc.txt did not work when a factor was found. Fixed in 26.6.</li><li>The 32K,64K,80K length FFTs with sumout checking for Pentium 4's with 256K or less cache were not implemented. Symptom is a torture test failure. Fixed in 26.6.</li><li>Prime95 does not load on Sandy Bridge CPUs running Win XP. I've got a trial fix in 26.6.</li><li>Prime95 chooses very inefficient FFT implementations for Core 2 Celerons (they have 512K L2 cache). Working on a fix for for 26.6.</li><li>Logical CPU numbers were sometimes output zero-based and sometimes one-based. In 26.6, they are all one-based. </li></ul></blockquote>

Das Changelog und die Versionsnummern passen nicht zusammen. Im verlinkten Support-Forum ist von 26.6 die Rede, im Changelog von 26.4, obwohl es für 26.5 ist. Letzteres erfährt man, wenn man im Support-Forum das dort verlinkte Changelog anschaut. Dazu kommt noch, dass es keinen Sinn ergibt, wenn im Changelog von Fixes für 26.6 die Rede ist, genau diese aber zum Download steht.
Und um die Verwirrung komplett zu machen, steht auf der offiziellen HP nur Version 26.5 zum Download.

Komisch, der Stresstest schaft auf meinem PC nur maximal 49°C, mit Simap oder QMC komm ich auf 54 °C im Ultrasilent-Betrieb mit meinem neuen Coolink Corator DS CPU-Kühler auf meinem X4 965BE. So stressig scheint der Test wohl doch nicht zu sein. Oder an was liegt das ?

Die Liste der Neuen Features habe ich korrigiert. Es ist natürlich die Version 26.6.
Es werden immer die Bugs der jeweils aktuellen Version im zweiten Post dokumentiert. Diesen werden gefixt bis zum nächsten Release und stellen damit das Changelog dar. Warum die das so handhaben, kann ich Dir nicht sagen. Im Thread der Version 26.5 stehen also die Fixes, die in die Version 26.6 einfließen.
Mein einziger Fehler bestand in der Angabe der Falschen neuen Features.

Das Programm mag meinen Phenom X4 9550 nicht. Aber am Intel Core i5 2500K stört es sich nicht.
Es meldet immer Rundungsfehler (0.5 anstatt < 0.4) nach kürzester Zeit. Die alte Version 26.5 tat das nicht.
Der Prozessor ist zwar undervolted, läuft mit diesen Einstellungen aber schon seit Monaten ohne Absturz.
Und andere Anwendungen haben auch noch keinen Fehler ausgegeben. Allerdings gibt mir eines zu denken:
Läuft parallel FurMark (und HWMonitor) mit, tritt der Fehler eher ein. Das deutet schon auf einen H/W-Fehler hin.
Allerdings sorgt das Anheben der Kernspannung auch nicht für Abhilfe. Da wird sich wohl bald etwas verabschieden.
Naja, hoffentlich gibt es bald den Vision Black FX samt vollwertiger Sockel AM3+ Boards zu kaufen.
