Das Teil heißt 2875ANRF. Bewertung/Bericht kommt nach Weihnachten, wenn es ein paar Tage gelaufen ist.

Vielleicht vorab doch schon mal ein kleines Resümee.
Der Preis ist zwar schon ganz schön happig, dafür hat Tyan aber auch bei der Ausstattung nicht gerade gekleckert:

-4-phasige Stromversorgung auf dem Board, wobei man auch nicht auf die sauteuren EPS-Netzteile angewiesen ist, sondern das ganze über ATX12V+Laufwerksstecker anschließen kann
In der Verpackung befand sich dann auch ein Floppykabel, 2 UDMA-Kabel, 4 SATA-Kabel, 2 SATA-Stromkabel (für je zwei Laufwerke), das Gameportkabel (wird nicht übers I/O-Shield nach aussen geführt), die Rententionframes für die CPU-Kühler sowie Handbücher und Treiber.
Und jetzt zur negativen Kritik. Ich vermisse die Anschlußkabel für die vier übrigen USB-Ports (4 werden via I/O-Shield nach außen geführt) genauso wie die Anschlußkabel für die Firewire-Ports. Bei letzteren weiß ich nichtmal wo ich die herbekommen soll.
Für dieses Geld gehört das einfach dazu.
Absoluter Mist ist auch das AMI-BIOS. Ich kann mit dem Dingens keine CDs (SCSI-Laufwerk) mehr booten, welche mit Floppy-Emulation arbeiten. Das Problem hatte ich schon mit dem AMI-BIOS von meinem Asrock K7S8X, nur konnte ich dort gar keine CDs booten. Ich habe das Gefühl, das hält generell Einzug.

Das nein ist nicht von mir. Ich hatte noch gar nicht abgestimmt, da ich erst noch etwas warten wollte, wie es sich im Betrieb verhält.
PS: Das Iwill steht auch eher in Konkurrenz zum Tyan Thunder denn zum Tiger.

Hi Poltergeist. Hab'ne Frage an Dich. Ich habe das Bord 2 mal aufgebaut und jedesmal bootet es nicht wie normal. Bei Powerbutton drücken laufen alle Laufwerke an, der Bootvorgang kommt erst, wenn ich danach den Reset-Button drücke.
Das 2. Problem ist, das die Boards im Neuzustand schon gebogen sind, ca. 5-8 mm ist die Seite unten, bei den PCI-sockets höher. Bevor ich die CPU-Lüfter drauf habe. Wenn beide CPU-Lüfter drauf sind biegt sich das Teil noch mehr. Wegen Umtausch habe ich diesen Effekt bei 4 Boards. Es liegt nicht daran das die Gehäuse (Chieftec) verzogen sind. Die Dinger kommen krumm aus'm Karton.
Ist ähnliches bei Deinem Board? Irgendwelche Tips?
Ansonsten laufen die Dinger super mit SuSE 9.0 x86-64bit.
Eigentlich wollte ich das ThunderK8W haben. Am 24.9.03 war es aber nicht lieferbar und mir wurde dann das TigerK8W vom Händler angeboten.

Also auf die Form habe ich bei meinem Board bis jetzt gar nicht geachtet. Es kann aber auch nicht wirklich stark durchgebogen sein, sonst wäre mir das sicherlich aufgefallen.
Auch beim booten habe ich keinerlei Probleme. Es ist zwar nicht unbedingt das Schnellste, aber das ist mir eigentlich auch rille. So oft boote ich die Kiste nicht neu (außer wenn ich mal wieder gerade am Kernel spiele).

Suspekt ist mir der Bootvorgang. Die beiden Taster können nicht falsch angeschlossen sein, weil es völlig Wurst ist, wierum sie aufgesteckt werden.

Wie oben erwähnt habe ich 2 Tiger K8W (Rev. 1.02) bei einem Großhändler erworben, welche leider etwas gebogen waren und daher Probleme machten. Beide Boards wurden anstandslos getauscht, was bei Tyan in den ersten 30 Tagen normal ist. (keine Fragen, keine Reparatur; neues Board!)
Der überragend gute Service und die Garantiebearbeitung von Tyan hat mich voll überzeugt,

In Zukunft werden alle Rechner von mir mit Tyan Boards aufgebaut.
Wegen der schlechten Rekla's (u.a. Bericht bei heise c't-TV) bei Asus ist mir Service sehr wichtig geworden.
(Service ist beim Hersteller! möglich, wenn der Händler Probleme hat, macht oder nicht mehr existiert.)
Also, beide Rechner laufen mit SuSE 9.1 x86-64bit (vorher 9.0 x86-64bit, 2,4er Kernel) hervorragend. Suse und AMD haben zusammengearbeitet und generell alle Boards mit AMD-8000 Series chipsets sind bestens Linuxtauglich.
Sound, SATA, Lan, USB usw. laufen mit SuSE direkt aus der Tüte. Internetverbindung + You während installation durchgeführt. Eine solch schnelle problemlose Installation habe ich mit Win 3.11 bis XP noch nie erlebt.
Beide Rechner haben Adaptec SCSI Karten. Von allen SCSI CD-RW und IDE DVD Laufwerken kann problemlos installiert bzw. gebootet werden. Das Booten von HD (SCSI oder SATA) ist genauso problemlos. SATA Raid habe ich noch nicht getestet.
Das Bios-Update läuft immer reibunglos. Ich finde das AMI-Bios sehr gut und aufgeräumt. Vom Overclocking halte ich nichts, habe keine große Ahnung und ist bei Dual Opterons mit ECC-Speicher auch fehl am Platz. Bei den Bios Vers. >2 kann aber so ziemlich alles eingestellt werden. Genaue Docu im Handbuch welches auch downloadbar ist.
Temp. und Lüfterdrehzahlen lassen sich mit lm_sensors auslesen. Eine fertig angepasste sensors.conf gibt es bei Tyan
Das Board lässt sich auch ohne Tastatur und Monitor booten, hat Terminal Anschluss, kann automatisch booten (geil!) oder abschalten, hat eine Port 80 Code display LED (sehr selten! meist nur selbstbau Diagnostic Karten) und andere Features welche sonst nur bei Serverboards zu finden sind.
Dieses Workstation Board ist sehr vielseitig. Es läßt sich super auch als Headless Server (init3) oder als VDR am TV gebrauchen.
Da ich Audio, Firewire und 4 USB Ports als Frontausgänge habe, finde ich die zusätzlichen Boardanschlüsse dafür als Feature und nicht als fehlende Backports wie PuckPoltergeist. Diese Anschlüsse (Pinnbelegungen) sind genauestens documentiert. Ein riesiger Boardlayoutaufkleber für die PC-Seitenwand ist auch dabei, falls das Handbuch nicht griffbereit ist und Pinbelegungen oder Jumper unklar sind.
Ein Rechner läuft immer 3-6 Tage durch. Null Probleme. Dieses Board kann ich allen empfehlen, die ein 64bit GNU/Linuxsystem* aufbauen wollen. Das Board gibt es auch im single Layout und kann mit 1-2 Opteron oder Athlon64-FX CPU bestückt werden.
*64bit-FreeBSD, -NetBSD und -OpenBSD sollten genauso laufen.
Ich würde es sofort wieder kaufen, bzw. möchte noch gerne eins.
Ich halte nur aus einem Grund nach einem Nachfolger Ausschau: Die AMI's (Regierunsbehörden) wollen aus Sicherheitsgründen Boards mit Linuxbios. Tyan hat evtl. noch dieses Jahr die ersten fertig. Das ich haben wollen.
Nachteile:
Im Gegensatz zum Thunder K8W, wo jede CPU eine direkte HT-Anbindung zum Ramspeicher hat, muß beim Tiger die CPU2 über CPU1 zum RAM. Dank HyperTransport (3,2GB/s jede Richtung) und 1024kB 2nd CPU Cache wird das wohl nur bei total ausgelasteten Servern bemerkbar. Das Thunder K8W kostet auch ca. das doppelte: EUR 579,- und das Tiger K8W 279,-.
Der Floppyanschluss, ganz unten auf dem Board, ist Ansichtssache; kommt bei immer mehr Herstellern dort hin. Bei einem Biosupdate wird ein floppy in der Regel benötigt und ich verbaue sie noch. Im Chieftec Big Tower sollte das Kabel 75cm haben. Tipp: Floppyrundkabel kostet ca. EUR 3.
Es liegen aber alle benötigten Kabel in der Packung. (siehe: PuckPoltergeist)
Vorteile:
DualProcessor Board mit ATX Formfactor passt in jeden ATX (Chiftec Midi) Tower. Meist sind die Dinger EATX bzw. SSI.
Es können EPS oder ATX Netzteile + 4 Pin Power-/Auxconnector benutzt werden. Ich habe ein EPS 460 Watt von Emacs (das von Tyan empfohlen wird) für den gleichen Preis wie mein Enermax ATX bekommen. EPS Netzteile für humane Preise gibt es nicht viele (bei Alternate schauen) aber bei 2 CPU's vorteilhaft. Es muß ja kein redundantes sein. Das EMACS hat nur einen Lüfter, dafür habe ich aber 7 im Lüfter im Gehäuse. Das EPS Enermax mit 2 Lüftern hat das doppelte gekostet
Als Speicher habe ich alle 4 Bänke mit gleichen 333er Infinion ECC Reg. genommen.
Wenn ich Geld übrig habe, kann ich noch 2 SATA-Hd's holen und hier berichten wie es mit dem Raid läuft.
