News SETI.Germany : BOINC Pentathlon 2024: Project for Steeplechase will be changed

Dear Pentathletes,

as we unfortunately learned only after the announcement of SiDock@home as the project for the Steeplechase, large parts of team Ukraine cannot connect to this project for technical reasons related to the political situation (the project is run for a group of Slovenian scientists on a server in Russia). After we received overwhelmingly positive feedback to an idea postet in the shoutbox on the Pentathlon website, we have decided on the following procedure:

1. SiDock@home will not be the Steeplechase project.
2. The Steeplechase is shortened from 7 to 5 days.
3. Accordingly, a new project will be announced on 11 May at one of the usual times (0.00 UTC, 6.00 UTC, 12.00 UTC, or 18.00 UTC).

We apologise for any inconveniences and hope that you will still enjoy the new final project of the BOINC Pentathlon.

Malheureusement, nous n'avons appris qu'après l'annonce de SiDock@home comme projet du Steeple-chase qu'une large partie de l'équipe Ukraine ne peut pas se connecter au projet pour des raisons techniques liées à la situation politique (le projet tourne pour un groupe de scientifiques slovènes sur un serveur situé en Russie). Après des retours majoritairement positifs à une idée lancée dans la shoutbox du site du Pentathlon, nous avons décidé de la procédure suivante:

1. SiDock@home ne sera pas le projet du Steeple-chase.
2. Le Steeple-chase sera raccourci de 7 à 5 jours.
3. En conséquence, un nouveau projet sera annoncé le 11/05 à l'une des heures habituelles (0:00 UTC, 6:00 UTC, 12:00 UTC ou 18:00 UTC).

Nous vous prions de bien vouloir excuser les éventuels désagréments liés à cette situation et nous espérons que vous aurez quand même du plaisir à calculer sur le nouveau dernier projet du BOINC Pentathlon.

Liebe Pentathleten,

wie wir leider erst nach Bekanntgabe von SiDock@home als Projekt für das Jagdrennen erfahren haben, können sich große Teile des Teams Ukraine aus technischen Gründen im Zusammenhang mit der politischen Situation (das Projekt wird für eine Gruppe slowenischer Wissenschaftler auf einem Server in Russland betrieben) nicht mit diesem Projekt verbinden. Nach weit überwiegend positivem Feedback auf eine Idee in der Shoutbox auf der Pentathlon-Webseite haben wir uns für folgendes Vorgehen entschlossen:

1. SiDock@home wird nicht das Projekt für das Jagdrennen sein.
2. Das Jagdrennen wird von 7 auf 5 Tage verkürzt.
3. Entsprechend wird die Bekanntgabe eines neuen Projekts am 11.05. zu einer der üblichen Uhrzeiten (0:00 UTC, 6:00 UTC, 12:00 UTC oder 18:00 UTC) erfolgen.

Wir bitten, die Unannehmlichkeiten zu entschuldigen, und hoffen, dass ihr dennoch Freude am neuen letzten Projekt des BOINC Pentathlons haben werdet.
