<div class="newsfloatleft"><img src="http://www.planet3dnow.de/photoplog/images/54308/1_AMD-Catalyst-Software.png" border="0" alt="AMD Catalyst Software"></div>AMD hat eine aktualisierte Version des AMD Catalyst Application Profiles (CAPs) veröffentlicht. Darin ist laut den offiziellen Release Notes 3 ein überarbeitetes CrossFire-Profil für das Computerspiele <i>Battlefield 3</i> enthalten, welches die Skalierung verbessern und einige Bildfehler für CrossFire-Systeme beheben soll. Das neue CAP kann sowohl mit den bisher erschienenen WHQL-Treibern als auch mit dem <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1319014802">AMD Catalyst 11.10 Preview-Treiber</a> genutzt werden, der als Performance-Treiber für <i>Battlefield 3</i> erschienen ist.
Seit dem <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1266436878" target="b">ATI Catalyst 10.2</a> hat AMD die ATI CrossFireX Application Profiles aus dem eigentlichen Treiber herausgelöst, sodass Updates dieser Profile wesentlich schneller den Kunden zugänglich gemacht werden können. Die CAPs sind allerdings nicht nur für CrossFire- und Dual-Graphics-Systeme interessant, sondern auch für alle anderen Besitzer einer Radeon-Grafikkarte. Beispielsweise konnten die <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1277377438">Ladezeiten für neue Karten in Battlefield: Bad Company 2</a> durch eine Aktualisierung des CAPs verkürzt werden. Zudem wird für bestimmte Anwendungen das Zuschalten von Anti-Aliasing über das Catalyst Control Center <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1270753048">ermöglicht</a> oder <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1291843181">deaktiviert</a>, wenn Probleme aufgetreten sind. Zukünftig will AMD auch Profile bereitstellen, durch die in bestimmten DirectX-11-Games der Tessellationfaktor automatisch vom Treiber reduziert wird, um so die Rechenlast zu reduzieren. Dies soll in erster Linie bei der Verwendung von kleineren Grafikbeschleunigern überhaupt erst die Aktivierung des Tessellation-Features ermöglichen.
Mit den monatlich veröffentlichten AMD-Catalyst-Treiberpaketen wird wie bisher das zum Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung aktuellste CAP ausgeliefert. In den <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?id=1292238229">künftig im wöchentlichen Rhythmus</a> erscheinenden Updates sind jeweils auch sämtliche vorangegangenen Änderungen enthalten. Um die installierten Anwendungsprofile auf dem aktuellsten Stand zu halten, müssen Besitzer von AMD-Radeon-Grafikkarten demnach lediglich das aktuellste CAP-Update installieren. Zuvor sollte ein eventuell vorhandenes, altes CAP deinstalliert werden!<p style="clear:left">

Mal ein kurzes Update zu den Profilen:
Das CAP3 hat wohl einige Probleme (Stottern) mit der finalen Version von BF3. Das gilt vor allem für den Singleplayer-Modus. CrossFire-Nutzer sollten daher den Preview-Treiber ohne zusätzliche Installation eines CAPs nutzen (dieser enhält bereits ein entsprechendes CrossFire-Profil für BF3). Wenn das CAP3 bereits installiert ist, sollte eine Deinstallation des CAPs und ein Neustart reichen. Ansonsten muss der Treiber (und alle CAPs) per Installationsmanager deinstalliert und danach neu installiert werden. Es kann dennoch gelegentlich sein, dass CrossFire nicht funktioniert. Dann einfach Alt + Tab benutzen. AMD arbeitet bereits an einer Lösung des Problems.
Andere Lösungsansätze, die für einige Nutzer funktioniert haben sind:
- HT deaktivieren
- ULPS deaktivieren
Auf einigen Seiten wird bereits ein CAP4 angeboten. Auch wenn beispielsweise PCGH den Eindruck erweckt, es sei eine offizielle Veröffentlichung von AMD. Das ist nicht der Fall! In der Vergangenheit gab es schon häufiger unfertige CAPs, die irgendwo zum Download angeboten wurden. Ich rate ausdrücklich von der Installation dieser Versionen ab.
Sobald das neue CAP offiziell von AMD freigegeben ist, wird es eine News geben!
