Day 6 10 May 2024 Fog Rolls In​

It is not so easy to choose the right disciplines for today. After all, I do not want to keep repeating myself and make you tired and smash your keyboard with your head.

Of course there is the City Run, which will reach its decisive phase tomorrow. The first attempt at the Javelin Throw is underway and this discipline will be a recurring theme over the next few days. I already discussed the Marathon yesterday, and the overall standings are completely foggy because the ongoing javelin attempt obscures the activities of the teams.

As the Javelin Throw and the City Run are obviously on my agenda tomorrow, I will take a look at all ongoing disciplines today, even if I do not cover all of them in detail.

Marathon (PrimeGrid: only subproject Cullen Prime Search LLR (CUL))
Not surprisingly, there is the least movement here. While TAAT (#1), P3D (#2), SG (#3), and [H] (#4) are stoically doing their thing, things are getting more exciting behind them. LTT still holds onto #5, but is already feeling the bow wave of CNT (#6). The Czechs have let GPUUG disappear in the spray and do not appear to be finished yet.

There is still a four-way battle for #9, which Ukraine is currently winning. AF (#10) passed SUSA (#10), but there is an even faster dragon behind them. TC (#12) has picked up speed and is showing the dragon's teeth.

Further movements do not occur ahead of #21, where MK apparently found the accelerator and now have their eye on OCN (#20). B^S (#22) could not counter this, but built up their lead over TFFE (#23), who in turn managed to pass BS (#24).

City Run (The Ramanujan Machine on BOINC)
Here the battle for bronze continues to heat up. TAAT (#1) and P3D (#2) are in front and [H] is struggling to hold onto #3. Behind them, LTT (#4) is pushing forwards, as SG (#5) already had to notice. The Germans now have to be careful not to lose contact.

The following teams up to the midfield are preparing for the final spurt. However, the teams in #14 and below cannot afford to do so at the moment.

RKN laboriously moved up into #14 by passing AMD Users (#15). TC (#16) and OCN (#17) are also making pace and have pushed past BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#18) and MK (#19). Chinese Dream (#20) and Crunching@EVGA (#21), and B^S (#22) and UBT (#24) have also swapped places.

Javelin Throw (NFS@Home)
Now let us move on to the Javelin Throw. As a reminder, only three out of five throws are needed to place well. However, teams repeatedly made mistakes in the past few years. Today we see that some teams have not yet delivered anything, but this could change over the next few hours.

P3D already seems to be serious today and has taken the lead. However, the usual teams are missing behind them. AF is happy about #2 for now and LITOMYSL (#3) is also not usually found here. TC (#4) is difficult to assess. Is this already a throw or are they skipping this attempt?

I suspect that BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#5) is throwing, whereas this is questionable in the case of Ukraine (#6). The throws by Crunching@EVGA (#7), SUSA (#8), BOINC.Italy (#9), RKN (#10), and Chinese Dream (#11) could well be serious already.

We can probably assume that GPUUG (#12), SG (#13), and LTT (#14) as well as TAAT (#16) are taking it easy with the javelin today. We might see more from them in the second attempt. It also seems to me that MK (#15) can do even better and the already good position is still rather misleading.

There is surely more to come also from AMD Users (#17) and CNT (#18). As you can see, the big favourites are all keeping things close to the vest, with the exception of P3D. Russia (#19) is doing quite well and is followed by BS (#20) folgt. The gaps between and the throwing distances of UBT (#21), TFFE (#22), and B^S (#23) are very small, so that the four teams behind them could easily pass. As that quartet includes NoTEAM, [H], and OCN, this is probably a safe bet.

• When will the teams reveal their hands at the Javelin Throw and lighten up the fog?
• Can SG strike back in the City Run?
• And how far can CNT still move up in the Marathon?

Tag 6 10.05.2024 Nebel zieht auf​

Es ist gar nicht so einfach, die richtigen Disziplinen für heute auszuwählen. Immerhin möchte ich vermeiden, dass ich mich ständig wiederhole und Sie ermüden und mit dem Kopf ihre Tastatur zertrümmern.

Natürlich ist da der Stadtlauf, wo es morgen in die entscheidende Phase geht. Der erste Versuch beim Speer läuft und dieses wird die nächsten Tage öfters Thema sein. Den Marathon hatte ich gestern schon behandelt und die Gesamtwertung ist völlig nebulös, da der laufende Speerwurf die Aktivitäten der Teams verschleiert.

Da morgen zwangsweise Speerwerfen und Stadtlauf auf dem Plan stehen, schaue ich mir heute mal alle laufenden Disziplinen an, auch wenn ich nicht jede davon in aller Ausführlichkeit behandle.

Marathon (PrimeGrid: nur das Subprojekt Cullen Prime Search LLR (CUL))
Hier gibt es nicht ganz überraschend die wenigsten Veränderungen. Während TAAT (#1), P3D (#2), SG (#3) und [H] (#4) stoisch ihr Ding machen, wird es dahinter spannend. LTT hält sich noch auf #5, spürt aber schon die Bugwelle von CNT (#6). Die Tschechen haben GPUUG in der Gischt hinter sich verschwinden lassen und scheinen noch nicht fertig zu sein.

Um #9 gibt es weiter einen Vierkampf, den derzeit die Ukraine für sich entscheidet. AF (#10) hat SUSA (#10) überholt, doch gibt es da noch einen schnelleren Drachen dahinter. TC (#12) hat Tempo aufgenommen und zeigt die Drachenzähne.

Positionswechsel gibt es dann erst bei #21. Hier haben MK scheinbar das Gaspedal gefunden und nun ein Auge auf OCN (#20) geworfen. B^S (#22) konnte dem nichts entgegensetzen, baut aber seinen Vorsprung auf TFFE (#23) auf, die wiederum BS (#24) überholen konnten.

Stadtlauf (The Ramanujan Machine on BOINC)
Hier spitzt sich der Kampf um Bronze weiter zu. TAAT (#1) und P3D (#2) vorneweg, müht sich [H] #3 zu behalten. Dahinter drängt LTT (#4) nach vorn, was SG (#5) bereits erfahren musste. Die Deutschen müssen jetzt aufpassen, nicht den Anschluss zu verlieren.

Bis zum Mittelfeld sind die nachfolgenden Teams dabei, sich auf den Endspurt vorzubereiten. Das können sich die Teams ab Platz 14 derzeit aber nicht leisten.

RKN hat sich mühevoll auf #14 gelaufen, vorbei an den AMD Users (#15). TC (#16) and OCN (#17) machen ebenso Tempo und haben sich an BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#18) und MK (#19) vorbeigeschoben. Die Plätze getauscht haben auch Chinese Dream (#20) und Crunching@EVGA (#21) sowie B^S (#22) und UBT (#24).

Speerwerfen (NFS@Home)
Kommen wir nun zum Speerwerfen. Zur Erinnerung: Nur drei von fünf Würfen sind nötig, um sich gut zu platzieren. Allerdings haben sich in den vergangenen Jahren Teams immer wieder verzockt. So erleben wir heute, dass Teams bisher noch nichts abgeliefert haben, was sich aber während der nächsten Stunden ändern könnte.

P3D scheint es heute bereits ernst zu meinen und hat sich an die Spitze gesetzt. Doch dann fehlen die üblichen Teams. AF freut sich vorerst über #2 und auch LITOMYSL (#3) ist normalerweise hier nicht zu finden. TC (#4) ist schwer einzuschätzen. Ist das jetzt schon ein Wurf oder setzt man aus?

Bei BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#5) vermute ich einen Wurf, was bei der Ukraine (#6) wieder fraglich ist. Crunching@EVGA (#7), SUSA (#8), BOINC.Italy (#9), RKN (#10) und Chinese Dream (#11) könnten durchaus schon ernst gemeinte Würfe machen.

Bei GPUUG (#12), SG (#13) und LTT (#14) sowie TAAT (#16) können wir wohl von einem ruhigen Tag beim Speer ausgehen. Hier könnten wir schon beim zweiten Versuch mehr sehen. Bei MK (#15) scheint mir auch mehr drin zu sein und die gute Platzierung eher zu täuschen.

Auch von den AMD Users (#17) und CNT (#18) wird sicher noch mehr kommen. Sie sehen also, dass die großen Favoriten bis auf P3D sich alle noch bedeckt halten. Ganz gut unterwegs ist Russia (#19), denen BS (#20) folgt. Bei UBT (#21), TFFE (#22) und B^S (#23) sind die Abstände und Weiten arg gering, sodass die vier Teams dahinter leicht vorbeigehen könnten. Da sich unter dem Quartett auch NoTEAM, [H] und OCN befinden, dürfte das wohl sogar sicher sein.

• Wann decken die Teams beim Speer ihre Karten auf und lassen Licht in den Nebel?
• Kann SG beim Stadtlauf zurückschlagen?
• Und wie weit geht es noch für CNT beim Marathon nach vorne?
