A year ago I asked ChatGPT if it knew about the BOINC Pentathlon. Back then, the system crashed because of this difficult question. But this year, it has been proven that artificial pattern recognition captures what is ahead of us again. MS Copilot won against Gemini with the following lines:

Well, I cannot put it much better than that. AI is a great artisan, but will never be an artist. And above all, it will always lack one thing: fun; as it will inevitably be for the more than two dozen teams this year. And in the end, this is what it is all about! What a poor soul an AI is for having to work hard all the time, constantly being fed stupid questions, having to do the work for others, and then they even have all the fun

The 15th edition is upon us this year. Pentathlons full of excitement, fun, and sleepless nights are behind us. Some of the crunchers taking part today were still filling diapers back then, and thus delivered completely different kinds of work units (for the parents). Kids, how time flies.

The top 12 from last year have already signed up and there is still a couple of days left to further fill the field. Everyone can take part here and fight for positions, even if it is just for the last place.

This year sees the return of the Marathon. It is perfect for those who still want a touch of calm despite all the brisk exercise. City Run, Sprint, and Javelin Throw are on the schedule as well. The Steeplechase is a new variant of the Obstacle Run this year, only shorter and more intense. The venues are still a secret.

I will accompany you again this year. Since 2010, quite a few words have accumulated. If you want to recap them, you can do so in the SG-Wiki (20102015) and on the Pentathlon website (since 2016). As last year, I will comment on no more than two rankings per day, so that the texts do not get tooo looooooooooooooong.

TeAm AnandTech (TAAT) won last year and could score a hat trick this year. Only Planet 3DNow! (P3D) has managed to do so before and they will certainly try everything to prevent this. SETI.Germany (S⁠G) also wants to be on the big podium again this year and will face tough competition. How strong will LinusTechTips_Team (LTT) perform? Or [H]ard|OCP ([H])? Can Rechenkraft.net (RKN) surprise us again and what about L'Alliance Francophone (AF) and Czech National Team (CNT)? And maybe SETI.USA (SUSA) will be in the mix again?

Il y a un an, j'ai demandé à ChatGPT s'il connaissait le BOINC Pentathlon. À l'époque, cette question a fait crasher le système. Mais cette année, il est prouvé que la reconnaissance artificielle des modèles saisit ce qui nous attend. Ainsi, MS Copilot a vaincu Gemini par les lignes suivantes:

Eh bien, je n'aurais pas dit mieux. L'IA est un excellent artisan d'art, mais elle ne sera jamais un artiste. Et il y a surtout une chose qu'elle n'aura jamais: du plaisir! Ce plaisir qu'auront immanquablement les plus de deux douzaines d'équipes inscrites cette année. Et c'est bien ça, le but final! Quelle pauvre bougresse que cette IA: elle doit toujours bosser comme une dingue, est bombardée de questions idiotes, doit faire le boulot pour les autres et ce sont eux qui ont tout le plaisir

La 15e édition du challenge nous attend cette année. Nous avons vécu des Pentathlons pleins de tension, de plaisir et de nuits blanches. À l'époque, certains des cruncheurs qui participent aujourd'hui ont rempli des couches et ont fourni des unités de travail d'un tout autre genre à leurs parents. Mon dieu, comme le temps passe!

Pour l'heure, le top12 de l'année précédente est déjà inscrit et il reste quelques jours pour compléter le peloton. Chacun peut participer et se battre pour le classement, même si c'est pour la dernière place.

Cette année, nous retrouvons le Marathon. Il est parfait pour tous ceux qui cherchent un peu de calme au milieu de tout ce mouvement. La Course urbaine, le Sprint et le Lancer de javelot seront à nouveau de la partie. Avec le Steeple-chase, nous verrons dans cette édition une nouvelle version de la course d'obstacles: plus courte et plus intense. Les lieux où se dérouleront les épreuves, quant à eux, sont encore secrets.

Cette année encore, je vous accompagnerai. Depuis 2010, cela fait déjà pas mal de mots. Pour ceux qui veulent les relire, ils peuvent aller sur le SG-Wiki (2010-2015 [VF à partir de 2013]) ou sur la page du Pentathlon (à partir de 2016). Comme l'an dernier, je me contenterai de 2 classements max par jour, pour que les textes ne deviennent pas trooop loooooongs.

L'année passée, TeAm AnandTech (TAAT) a remporté le challenge et l'équipe pourrait réussir un triplé cette année. Jusqu'à présent, seule Planet 3DNow! (P3D) a réussi cet exploit et elle fera sûrement tout pour que TAAT n'y arrive pas. SETI.Germany (S⁠G) voudra remonter sur le podium cette année, mais elle rencontrera une concurrence féroce. Dans quelle mesure, LinusTechTips_Team (LTT) ou [H]ard|OCP ([H]) pourront-elles renchérir? Rechenkraft.net (RKN) pourra-t-elle à nouveau nous surprendre? Et qu'en est-il de L'Alliance Francophone (AF) et de Czech National Team (CNT)? Peut-être que SETI.USA (SUSA) reviendra dans la course?

Nun, viel besser kann ich es auch nicht ausdrücken. KI ist ein toller Kunsthandwerker, wird aber nie Künstler sein. Und vor allem eins wird sie nie haben: Spaß; so wie es den mehr als zwei Dutzend Teams in diesem Jahr unweigerlich widerfahren wird. Und darum geht es doch letztlich! Was ist doch so eine KI für eine arme S⁠au, muss ständig rackern, wird ständig mit blöden Fragen gefüttert, muss die Arbeit für andere erledigen und die haben dann sogar noch den Spaß

Die 15. Auflage steht in diesem Jahr an. Pentathlons voller Spannung, Spaß und schlaflosen Nächten liegen hinter uns. Einige der heute mitmachenden Cruncher haben damals noch Windeln gefüllt und so ganz andere Arten von Workunits (für die Eltern) abgeliefert. Kinder, wie die Zeit vergeht.

Aktuell sind die Top 12 des Vorjahres bereits angemeldet und es verbleiben noch ein paar Tage, um das Feld weiter zu füllen. Hier darf jeder mitmachen und um Platzierungen kämpfen, sei es auch nur der letzte Platz.

In diesem Jahr gibt es ein Wiedersehen mit dem Marathon. Er ist perfekt für diejenigen, die bei aller flotter Bewegung doch noch einen Hauch von Ruhe wollen. Wieder auf dem Plan stehen Stadtlauf, Sprint und Speerwerfen. Mit dem Jagdrennen gibt es in diesem Jahr eine neue Art des Hindernislaufs, nur eben kürzer und intensiver. Noch ein Geheimnis sind die Austragungsorte.

Auch in diesem Jahr werde ich euch wieder begleiten. Seit 2010 sind doch ein paar Wörter zusammengekommen. Wer diese rekapitulieren möchte, kann das im SG-Wiki (20102015) und auf der Pentathlon-Seite (ab 2016) tun. Wie im Vorjahr werde ich mich auch dieses Jahr auf maximal 2 Wertungen am Tag begrenzen, damit die Texte nicht zuuu laaaaaaaaaaaaaaang werden.

Im vergangenen Jahr gewann TeAm AnandTech (TAAT) und könnte in diesem Jahr einen Hattrick landen. Dies ist bisher nur Planet 3DNow! (P3D) gelungen und der Grüne Planet wird sicher alles versuchen, um dies zu verhindern. Aufs große Treppchen will in diesem Jahr auch wieder SETI.Germany (S⁠G) und wird dabei auf harte Konkurrenz stoßen. Wie stark wird LinusTechTips_Team (LTT) auftrumpfen? Oder [H]ard|OCP ([H])? Kann uns Rechenkraft.net (RKN) wieder überraschen und was ist mit L'Alliance Francophone (AF) und Czech National Team (CNT)? Und vielleicht mischt SETI.USA (SUSA) wieder mit?
