erstes mal Bios flashen - Hilfe

Moin,
habe hier ein kleines Problem mit einem Biostar M6VBE-A.
Wollte eben meine neue 120er Festplatte anschließen und das BIOS will sie nicht annehmen... am Anfang wird sie noch als primary Master erkannt, aber wenn später ihre Größe ausgerechnet werden soll, da stockt es dann.

Habe etwas gesucht und herrausgefunden, dass das Award BIOS v1.0a wohl keine so großen Platten unterstützt... lange Rede, kurzer Sinn, muss also Updaten:

Habe das aber noch nie gemacht... habe folgende Anleitung auf deren Seite gefunden:

Award BIOS upgrade procedures
Download the new BIOS ROM file and upgrade utility - AWDFLASH.EXE, from our Web site or FTP site.
(Of course, you can use our new BIOS flash technology as Flasher . This function did availabled for our new boards.)

PS1. : Each BIOS and AWDFLASH file are compressed.
PS2. : Execute these files, then the BIOS and Flash Utility would de-compress themselves under Windows environment.



Turn the machine on and boot into DOS mode without CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT.


Execute this commend as below under DOS prompt:

AWDFLASH.EXE xxxxxxxx.bin Or
AWDFLASH.EXE xxxxxxxx.pro Or
AWDFLASH.EXE xxxxxxxx.grd


PS1. :The extend file name did depend on which type ROM file (BIN or PRO or GRD) download by yourself.


User will get an prompt message: "Do You Want To Save BIOS (Y/N)?". Press "N" if you do not want to save the old Bios ROM to file.


User will get another prompt message: "Are you sure to program ?". Press "Y" for upgrading.


Reset the system while you have completed upgrade.


Press "Delete" to enter CMOS setup menu. User may select "LOAD SETUP DEFAULTS" and press "Y" to confirm.


User may select "SAVE & EXIT" to reboot the system.

nur was bedeutet das mit dem Turn the machine on and boot into DOS mode without CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT.

Habe noch nie ein BIOS geflasht und möchte auf keinen Fall was falsch machen!!! Ich brauch den Rechner dringend!!

also, wie starte ich das ganze ohne die config.sys und autoexec.bat? reicht es, wenn ich den Rechner einfach ohne Festplatte anmache und dann mit dem Floppy flashe??

Bau dir eine Bootdisk (am besten DRDOS ) und kopier AWDFLASH.EXE und das BIOS auf die Diskette.
Vor dem flashen ins BIOS und die Default-Werte laden, speichern und raus.
Nun von Diskette booten und awdflash.exe "hier kommt der Name der BIOS-Datei hin" und "Enter" und die kommende Frage, ob du wirklich das BIOS updaten willst mit "y" bestätigen. Wenn alles passt, dann kommt nach knapp einer Minute irgendeine Rückmeldung "blablabla reboot..." und sobald der Cursor blinkt und das Diskettenlaufwerk still ist, kannst du am besten mit Alt+Strg+Entf rebooten und gleich wieder ins BIOS und wieder die Default-Werte und speichern und das war es. Jetzt kannst du gleich wieder ins BIOS und deine bevorzugten Eintellungen vornehmen.

P.S. Unter Windoof würde ich kein BIOS flashen

Trotzdem danke an euch, habe es übrigens so gemacht, wie es im nachhinein gesagt wurde... und der Monitor ging einfach so aus...
