Day 2 06 May 2023 The Calm Before the Javelin?​

The first laps on the obstacle course are behind us. The teams have found their pace and set their speed to their optimum. With an interested eye, the competition is observed and assessed, and the next steps are thought through. Is there enough power available when going out of the slipstream? Is it possible to pull away after that? And above all: Is there enough fuel to the end?

While the eyes of the worldwide public are still focused on the obstacle course, the teams are in full swing preparing for the first javelin throw. Which team will decide to give their all at the javelin tomorrow, and will therefore be behind at the obstacles? Or which team will skip the first two javelin throws in order to create facts at the obstacles?

As expected, the rankings have sorted out a bit after the first day. TAAT are still leading the field, but are now being chased by P3D (#2). The planet on which pollen allergy sufferers are probably having a hard time right now is not only keeping up the pace, but is also nibbling away at the gap.

[H] (#3) could not keep up and now even has to fend off SG. The SETI Germans have moved up into #4 and have their sights firmly set on bronze now. Since neither CNT, who have moved up into #5, nor LTT (#6) can follow, that could even work out.

While LTT had to give up two places after their good start, the returnees do not have to hide from the teams behind them. Neither GPUUG (#7) nor B@P (#8) nor RKN (#9) can follow. On the other hand, AF is starting to catch up. For now, they remain in #10, but if they keep up the pace of the last hours, the Francophones will move up.

SUSA (#11) and TC (#12) are sailing in the slipstream of AF, what a sight! The trio might move up together, but at the current pace, #7 seems to be the maximum for them. Behind them, Ukraine tries to hold on in #13, which they took from OCN (#16). However, BOINC.Italy (#14) still have fire in the furnace and are coming closer.

The winners of the last 24 hours are MK, as they have gained no less than five places and thus moved up into #15. However, the coolant seems to have evaporated, since not only OCN but also AMD Users (#17) are faster now. Meanwhile, EVGA (#18) took a beating and have lost five places since yesterday.

This is unlikely to change soon because of the slow pace of the following teams. Chinese Dream (#19) have also lost ground and are still in touch with EVGA, but their pace is simply too low.

Behind them, there is already a small gap. BC (#20) have passed Russia (#21), who now have to fend off TFFE (#22). TSBT is now in #23. This may be a small improvement, but a big success it is not. Maybe this will come tomorrow.

B^S and UBT are following in #24 and #25, respectively. The British are probably all watching the coronation of their king. Hopefully they do not celebrate too long, as BOINCstats (#26) could well attack them.

Further down the rankings, it is more walking than running. Crystal Dream (#27) and 2ch (#28) even like to take a break every now and then. If PiGyS could turn away from pizza, gyros, and schnitzel, more than #29 would be possible for them.

For two of the three questions posed yesterday, the answer is currently a no. LTT lost #4 and TSBT is still emptying the barrels. It remains to be seen if TAAT's winning streak will be broken.

Tag 2 06.05.2023 Die Ruhe vor dem Speer?​

Die ersten Runden auf der Hindernisstrecke liegen hinter uns. Die Teams haben ihr Tempo gefunden und ihre Drehzahl auf ihr Optimum eingestellt. Mit interessierten Blick werden die Konkurrenz beäugt, eingeschätzt und die nächsten Schritte überlegt. Steht genug Power zur Verfügung, wenn man aus dem Windschatten geht? Kann man sich dann absetzen? Und vor allem: Reicht der Sprit bis zum Ende?

Noch konzentriert sich der Blick der weltweiten Öffentlichkeit auf die Hindernisstrecke, doch bei den Teams laufen die Vorbereitungen für den ersten Speerwurf auf Hochtouren. Welches Team entscheidet sich dafür, morgen volle Kraft beim Speer zu investieren und ist deshalb beim Hindernis hinten dran? Oder welches Team lässt die ersten beiden Speere aus, um beim Hindernis erstmal Fakten zu schaffen?

Wie erwartet hat sich nach dem ersten Tag das Klassement etwas sortiert. Zwar führt TAAT weiter das Feld an, wird aber nun von P3D (#2) verfolgt. Der Planet, auf dem Pollenallergiker es wohl gerade echt schwer haben, geht nicht nur das Tempo mit, sondern knabbert etwas vom Rückstand weg.

[H] (#3) konnte da nicht mithalten und muss sich jetzt sogar SG erwehren. Die SETI-Deutschen haben sich auf #4 geschoben und haben den Bronzerang fest ins Auge genommen. Da weder CNT, die sich auf #5 geschoben haben, noch LTT (#6) mithalten, könnte das sogar klappen.

LTT musste zwar nach gutem Start zwei Plätze abgeben, doch vor den Teams dahinter brauchen die Wiederkehrer sich nicht zu verstecken. Weder GPUUG (#7) noch B@P (#8) oder RKN (#9) können folgen. AF dagegen setzt zur Aufholjagd an. Noch behalten sie #10, doch wenn sie das Tempo der letzten Stunden durchhalten, wird es für die Frankophonen nach vorne gehen.

Im Windschatten von AF segeln SUSA (#11) und TC (#12), was für ein Anblick. Für das Trio kann es gemeinsam nach vorne gehen, allerdings ist beim aktuellen Tempo nicht mehr als #7 drin. Die Ukraine dahinter versucht, #13 zu halten, den sie OCN (#16) abgenommen haben. Doch BOINC.Italy (#14) hat noch Feuer im Ofen und drängt vorbei.

Gewinner der letzten 24 Stunden sind die Meisterkühler, denn sie haben ganze fünf Plätze gutgemacht und sich so auf #15 geschoben. Allerdings scheint das Kühlmittel verdampft zu sein, denn nicht nur OCN, sondern auch die AMD Users (#17) sind schneller. EVGA (#18) musste dagegen kräftig Federn lassen, für sie ging es seit gestern fünf Plätze nach hinten.

Dass sich daran so schnell nichts ändert, liegt am geringen Tempo der nachfolgenden Teams. Chinese Dream (#19) hat auch Boden verloren und ist noch an EVGA dran, doch das Tempo ist einfach zu dünn.

Dahinter klafft dann schon eine kleine Lücke. BC (#20) hat sich an Russia (#21) vorbei geschoben, die sich wiederum TFFE (#22) erwehren müssen. Auf #23 steht nun TSBT. Das mag zwar eine leichte Besserung sein, doch der große Wurf ist es nicht. Aber vielleicht kommt der ja morgen.

B^S und UBT folgen auf #24 und #25. Die Briten schauen wohl alle gebannt auf die Krönung ihres Königs. Hoffentlich feiern sie nicht zu lange, denn BOINCstats (#26) könnte durchaus noch angreifen.

Dahinter haben wir es eher mit Gehen als Laufen zu tun. Crystal Dream (#27) und 2ch (#28) legen gerne auch mal eine Pause ein. Wenn PiGyS sich von Pizza, Gyros und Schnitzel losreißen könnte, dann wäre mehr als #29 drin.

Zwei von drei gestrigen Fragen lassen sich aktuell mit nein beantworten. LTT hat #4 abgeben müssen und TSBT leert immer noch die Fässer. Ob die Siegesserie von TAAT reißt, wird sich noch klären.

• Kann SG #3 beim Hindernis schaffen?
• Schaffen es Hahn, Adler und Drache weiter nach vorn?
• Wer startet beim Speer am besten?
