Sorry, scheint ein ziemlich totes Projekt zu sein. Seit 2 Jahren keine Arbeit. vergesst es also schnell wieder.

Also, ich habe mir angemeldet und das Team erstellt, es gibt aktuell auch Arbeit.
Bekommen habe ich bisher keine weil kein Docker installiert war bei mir, das ist dort Voraussetzung

Scheinbar brauch man auch die aktuelle Alpha von BOINC

Unter Windows habe ich WSL2 installiert und Ubuntu allerdings sagt mir der normale 8.0.2 Client das es keine nutzbaren WSLs gibt ...
Vllt schafft es ja jemand das ans laufen zu bringen zu @Sabroe SMC schiel

Ich werds mal im Forum von Boinc Central nachfragen.

Unter Linux sagt mein System ich hätte kein Dockerinstalliert ... das will ich heute oder morgen nochmal prüfen weil ich eigentlich Docker drauf habe aber im Forum wurde zu podman als Dockerbasis geraten allerdings eben auch zur aktuellen Alpha vom BOINC Client und den bekomme ich unter ARCH nicht einfach so installiert, den müsste ich selber kompilieren und das ist mir zumindest für mich selbst zu fehlerbehaftet ... das würde ich zumindest vorm Penta nicht mehr machen

Wer es mal probieren möchte:
Download and install the latest development version of BOINC (8.2.1) as well as Podman. Windows also needs WSL2 enabled.

Windows: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_8.2.1_windows_x86_64.exe

* Follow instruction to enable WSL https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install
* Enable WSL2 (currently only WSL2 is supported)
* Download latest release from https://github.com/BOINC/boinc-buda-runner-wsl/releases
* Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the release
* Double-click on the boinc-buda-runner.wsl file
* Open Windows Terminal and select 'boinc-buda-runner' profile or run the command wsl.exe -d boinc-buda-runner in the terminal to start the application.
* Run BOINC client (download and install first if you haven't done so from https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php) and verify that WSL and podman are detected.

Install the alpha version of BOINC on Ubuntu 24.04

GPU computing
If the system has a GPU, it may be usable by BOINC projects that have GPU-enabled apps. On some systems you may need to install GPU drivers that support this.

Check the BOINC client's output on startup. It should detect your GPU (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) using OpenCL, and NVIDIA GPUs should also be detected using CUDA. If not, check whether updated drivers are available for your GPU type and Linux distro. In general, vendor-supplied drivers may be preferable to open-source drivers.

Install Podman
Some BOINC projects use Docker to package their applications. We recommend that you install Podman, an open-source version of Docker. To do so:


sudo apt install podman
sudo usermod --add-subuids 100000-165535 --add-subgids 100000-165535 boinc

Habe es unter Windows mal installiert … mal sehen ob da was kommt oder nicht

Die richtige Erkennung der WSL und der installierten Linux Version einschließlich docker bedingen die Version 8.2.1
Ansonsten wird zwar erkannt das WSL installiert ist aber mehr nicht

Mir wird aus mir nicht bekannten Gründen angezeigt das VBOX zwar installiert ist aber die CPU keine Hardwareseitige Unterstützung besitzt ... ist natürlich Blödsinn, habe es extra nochmal nachgeschaut ... die ist aktiviert

Zack und keine WUs mehr ... aber wenigstens nicht die Meldung das weder WSL noch Docker fehlen



Aber @FritzB hat sich vollgesaugt und es läuft auch problemlos scheinbar bei ihm ... keine Fehler

Musste den Laptop neu installieren ... hatte langeweile auf der Arbeit und habe mal unter Windows den ganzen Krempel installiert ... scheint zu laufen

Muss zuhause Linux nochmal neu installieren auf dem Laptop, irgendwas ist da schief gegangen und ich bekomme den Fehler nicht behoben ...

Docker scheint also bei mir ohne Probleme unter Win11 zu funktionieren. Mal sehen ob ichs auch unter Linux hin bekomme

Stimmt, ich hatte damals Docker unter Windows installiert ...
Da muss ich nochmal nachschauen
Der Download ist mir dann aber doch zu groß ... habe hier nur LTE mit 2 Balken und DL Speed ist so bei ~200kb/s

Der 7v12 ist mit 8 WUs komplett ausgelastet. Macht 16 Cores pro WU. WOW!

PS: Habe Mist erzählt. Fakt ist, hier läuft noch garnichts richtig
PPS: Wieso reservieren sich die WUs bis zu 14GB Arbeitsspeicher das Stück? Kein Wunder das die sich immer wieder gegenseitig ausknipsen (warte auf Speicher).
