Boinc ATI 4870 Problem

Hallo Forum,
ich habe eine Frage, kann mir jemand von euch erklären wie ich Boinc (Seti) auf meiner ATI 4870 zum laufen bekomme. Habe den neuesten Boinc Client installiert (7.0.33 x64). Bekomme abe rimmer BErechnungsfehler bei der GPU.

Karte ist nicht Übertaktet.
habe auch den Optimierten Client probiert (lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;catd=9) Version 0,40 64 bit.
Selbes Problem.
Habe auch schon einige Treiber durchprobiert vom neuesten bis zu 10.12. SDK 2.6 und 2.4 auch schon getestet.

Muss ich es in einer bestimmten Reihenfolge installieren oder irgendo noch einen Haken setzen?!?

OS: Windows 7 64bit
GPU:4870 512mb

Rest sollte ja egal sein..

sdk 2.7 ist installiert und treiber 12.6...

OpenCL ist nicht mit installiert (13.08.2012 22:07:32 | | App version needs OpenCL but GPU doesn't support it). Versuch mal ein älteres SDK bzw einen älteren Treiber. Die HD 4000-Serie ist mittlerweile nur noch legacy. Ein Treiber mit OpenCL 1.1 langt für die Anwendungen. Das SDK ist nur nötig, wenn du selber Programme schreibst.

Edit: Hast du bei den älteren Treibern auch darauf geachtet, dass der OpenCL(tm) Driver auch mit im Paket war?

Wenn du den OpenCL-Treiber aktiviert bekommst, sieht das ganze so aus:

Ich denke auch das fst Recht hat. Die 4870 wird durch OpenCL unterstützt. Du solltest nochmals das komplette Paket von AMD herunterladen: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/legacy/Pages/legacy-radeonaiw-vista64.aspx

Den Treiber installieren, Neustart und uns dann nochmals berichten.

Da könnte der Fehler liegen.

die 4870 unterstützt nur "OpenCL 1.0" wenn ich mich so auf den seti und anderen seiten umsehe ist aber immer die rede von 1.1 das erst ab der 5xxx unterstützt wird. Warum gibt es dann einen Installer für 4xxx?!?

Gibt es keine Anleitung?!

PS: habe dieses Treiberpacket genommen und vorher auch wirklich jeden Treiberrest aus der Reg und aus dem Windows Verzeichnis entfernt. Der Open CL Driver war ausgewählt.

Ich installiere mal eben meine alte HD 4850 in den anderen Rechner. Treiber wird der 11.12 sein.

Edit: Ach ja, zwischen OpenCL 1.0 und 1.1 hatte AMD in den älteren Treibern keinen großen unterschied gemacht.

Notes and recommendations
-------------------------

ATTENTION - running this installer will remove ALL manual edits to
app_info.xml. This includes, but is not limited to, beta applications,
<count> variables, <flops> entries, and <cmdline> options.
If you have made such alterations, they need to be redone after using the
installer, preferably before restarting BOINC, or you could lose work.


CPU apps - MB: AKv8b2: AP: upgraded to r555/r557

If you have any doubt at all about what instruction sets your CPU supports,
download CPU-Z from http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
You will usually find that the SSSE3x application is fastest on the Intel
processors which support SSSE3x, except on dual-core CPUs with especially fast
memory subsystems.
We have indication, that on Intel i3, i5 and i7 processor series SSE3 may be
the fastest variant.

ATTENTION: If you have an AMD CPU running under 64 bit, you HAVE to choose the
MB application labeled 'AMD', as the others will not work.
If you are running an AMD CPU under 32 bit non-AMD labeled apps may or may not
work. If the app is incompatible, you are likely to see tasks erroring out very
quickly with 'output file absent' recorded in the log.

The new r555/r557 AP applications support AP v6.01 and v5.05 work.
If your CPU is only capable of SSE choose the r555 SSE application.
If your CPU supports AVX (Intel Sandybridge and AMD Bulldozer, Windows 7 SP1)
choose the r557 SSE2 build as it is faster.
If you have a CPU with SSE2 and above but not AVX the r557 MAY be faster.
We have indication that on most hosts r557 is faster but no guarantees.
As always - your mileage may vary.


NVidia GPU (CUDA) app - x41g_cuda32

For compatible cards see http://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-gpus
Requires minimum CUDA 3.2 capable NVidia driver: 263.06 (260.99 on notebooks)
Download drivers from http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
(or your national equivalent)
Should run on all NVidia CUDA cards with at least 512MiB video RAM.
Actual free memory required is in the region of 200-235MB, depending on driver
and OS flavour.
Running on a 256MiB card is just possible, but you will have to free up as much
VRAM as possible, e.g. by disabling Aero.
Used video RAM can be checked with GPU-Z downloadable from
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2039/TechPowerUp_GPU-Z_v0.5.5.html
Watch closely on GPU-Z and in BOINC manager if the application finds enough
memory. Symptoms of insufficient memory are
- in BOINC manager: tasks start up and run a few seconds then go to 'waiting
to run' and the next task tries to start until practically the whole cache
is waiting.
- on GPU-Z: the sensor for memory shows used VRAM ramping up and almost
immediately dropping again.
Attention atm it appears that permanent insufficient memory throws the app into
an infinite loop. In this case you will have to abort and uninstall.

To multithread on Fermi cards, find all instances of <count>1</count> in
app_info.xml and decrease to 0.5 or 0.3. Again, if you are uncertain of how to
do this correctly, ask on the above mentioned forum.
x41g_cuda32 has been tested with and is safe to use on GTX 680 (Kepler) GPUs.


ATI MB apps - r390; AP apps - r555

We offer the application in two different variants, depending on card:
plain - for most HD4xxx owners and those with HD5xxx, HD6xxx and HD7xxx cards
who suffer from driver incompatibilities.
HD5 - for most if not all owners of HD5xxx GPUs, HD6xxx and HD7xxx GPUs.

The ATI MB application will not work on ATI cards with workgroup size 128
(e.g. HD43xx). To check workgroupsize run CLinfo, downloadable (at present)
from {http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/clinfo.zip}
It will, however, probably work on HD53xx & HD63xx with workgroup size 128.
If you have problems running the HD5 flavour (anything from reduced performance
to BSOD), you should run the plain variant.

Minimum required driver: Something that is OpenCL capable. You can check with
GPU-Z (see above).
Catalyst 10.7b with SDK
Catalyst 10.10 Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) Technology Edition
The following drivers are known to be incompatible with the app:
11.10 and 11.11.
On some drivers the app shows increased CPU usage.
Drivers from 11.12 onwards work.
First official driver for HD7xxx is 12.3.

The recommended apps (r555 for Astropulse, r390 for MultiBeam) need OpenCL
support from the ATI driver - for recent driver versions, look for a driver
*with* APP or OpenCL listed. For compatible drivers see
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
For cards, see
http://developer.amd.com/gpu/AMDAPPSDK/pages/DriverCompatibility.aspx
On most systems GPU-Z (see above) will tell you if your setup supports OpenCL.

For cards without OpenCL support (from HD2xxxx on) use the 'hybrid' r555
Astropulse application. NB this is a combined CPU/GPU application and will only
use the GPU for some of the calculations, while doing the rest on a CPU core.
Minimum driver version Catalyst 9.x.


General Notes:
With Windows Vista and Windows 7, do not install BOINC in 'Service' or
'Protected Application Execution' mode for GPU crunching, and do not connect to
a Vista/7 computer with Windows Remote Desktop while it is running a GPU
application.
Switching users can also cause the GPU app to fail [BOINC versions before
6.12.28]


Tuning cmd line parameters:
For AP: If you get lags or worse driver restarts, decrease unroll. If you run
stable you can try to increase it. ffa_block should be a multiple of ffa_block_fetch.
Start low e.g. -ffa_block 4096 -ffa_block_fetch 2048 and try increasing if it runs
fine. Sticking to the power of 2 line at first can help.
There will be a system specific best combination - too low slows you down, too high
slows you down as well.
Remember AP runtimes depend on blanking % so only compare runtimes on similar
blanking %.
For MB: other way round - if you experience lag or driver restarts increase
-period_iteration_num

Mit dem Catalyst 11.12 gab es eine Fehlermeldung wegen OpenCL, Catalyst 12.4 läuft aber.

mega Kurzfassung:

Habe nun mehrere Treiber und SDKs ausprobiert ohne Erfolg.

Mir ist durchs goog...suchen auch ein Post in einem anderen Forum aufgefallen: "Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass du den falschen Treiber verwendest? Es gibt nur einen 9.11 und zwar 8.67x und nichts anderes. Und nur diese Treiber sind OpenCL-fähig. Auch muss das Stream SDK 2.0 beta 4 installiert sein.
Steht alles in der Readme."

Wechselst Du beim Treiberwechsel auf den VGA-Standardtreiber? Ist zu empfehlen.
Inzwischen sind wohl von allen Treibern irgendwelche Reste im System.
Reinigungstool CCleaner.

Das SDK ist nur nötig, wenn du selber Programme schreibst.

Und laß das SDK erstmal weg.

Und ein Link zu Deinem Boinc-PC wäre auch nett. Anscheinend ist die GPU schon mit Seti gelaufen. Zwar nur kurz mit Abbruch, aber immerhin. Möglicherweise wird man aus der Fehlermeldung schlau.

Hallo,

1) Non >Experiment Version ->OK 7.0.28

2) ATI Treiber 12.4 bzw 12.6 direkt von da AMD/ATI HP geladen. (auch ohne SDK) beides kein Erfolg.

3) Jap VGA Treiber.
Treiber wird JEDESMAL Deinstalliert danach im Abgesicherten Modus gestartet dort mit "Drive Cleaner" & "Drive Sweeper" & "Tune UP Regcleaner" gesäubert....

ERST und nur erst DANN wird normal gebootet und der NEUE Treiber installiert.

Das hier zum Download angebotene Treiberpaket AMD Catalyst 12.6 Legacy WHQL enthält bereits eine aktualisierte Laufzeitumgebung des AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) SDK 2.7, was AMDs Lösung zur Entwicklung parallelisierter Software auf Basis der OpenCL-Programmierplattform ist. Eine installierte OpenCL-Laufzeitumgebung ist Grundvoraussetzung, wenn auf der Grafikkarte oder APU OpenCL-Kernel bzw. per OpenCL-beschleunigte Programme ausgeführt werden sollen. Mit dem Catalyst 12.1 WHQL hat AMD die Weiterentwicklung von CAL und OpenCL unter Windows XP eingestellt. In den Treiberpaketen für Windows XP sind daher seit dem Catalyst 12.2 WHQL weder CAL noch die OpenCL-Laufzeitumgebung enthalten.

Mit dem dann installierten Standard-VGA-Treiber kann auch normal gestartet werden. Den alten Treiber völlig löschen. Übriggebliebene Atiordner und Dateien unbedingt von Hand entfernen, auch die normal unsichtbaren. Auch den Catalyst Installmanager. Bei Boinc kann in der Zeit die Autostartfunktion deaktiviert werden. Erst wenn alle Atiordner entfernt sind, System neu starten und Registry flicken.
Erneuter Systemstart und neuen Treiber installieren.


Sorry, falls Dein 12.6 schon der Legacy ist. Dann muß jemand anderes ran

ABER ich habe nun festgestellt das irgendwas nicht mit dem OS Stimmt... weil ich hab mir ein NEUES OS installiert und SOFORT OpenCL gehabt...(nach Tireberinstallation)

Nun stellt sich nur die Frage WO in da Reg trotz 3 Tools noch etwas übrig bleibt.

Ich hab eine ATI 6870 aber irgendwie will er die auch nie für Seti benutzen. Erkannt wird sie beim starten:

Soweit so gut... aber irgendwie taucht dann auch diese Meldung auf:

In den Einstellungen hab ich eingestellt das er die GPU immer benutzen soll. Auch wenn der Rechner benutzt wird. Aber irgendwie will er trotzdem nicht. Die Meldung dort oben kommt trotzdem beim Start. Mir ist irgendwie nicht klar, wieso er nicht mag.

Ich hab Seti seit Jahren nicht mehr laufen gehabt. Wollte es nur mal just for fun wieder anschmeißen.

Nutze die GPU wenn der Computer benutzt wird - da muss ein Hacken rein ...

Sry, war das Wochenende über nicht zu Hause, und bin eben erst zurück gekommen

Also das Häckchen ist dort gesetzt. Während der Zeit als ich nicht zu Hause war, lief der Rechner durch. Er hat in der Zeit auch nicht einmal die GPU benutzt. Zumindet sagt mir mein Tool hier max GPU Temp 56 Grad. Und das ist meine normale idle Temp.

Um die GPU zu nutzen, muß natürlich auch eine GPU-Wu auf Deinem Rechner vorhanden sein.
Erlaube die Nutzung Benutze ATI GPU ja und Run only the selected applications Astropulse v6: yes in Deinem Setiaccount.
Die Atis können ohne die Lunatics nur die Astropulse v6 rechnen ( mit auch die SETI@home Enhanced ).
